RAM 3500 Front stabilizer(sway) bar diameter ,34mm or 32mm

The front stabilizer(sway) bar on my 2000 RAM 3500 cab and chassis,
2WD,TBD,solid front axle, was bent from an accident.

I had already ordered and installed new stabilizer bar links because they were bent and new 34mm diameter stabilizer bar bushings in hopes that the old 34mm stabilizer bar wasn't bent too much.

After installing the new stabilizer bar links,the old 34mm diameter stabilizer bar was bent too much to align properly with the stabilizer bar links.

I ordered a new one from a Dodge dealer along with my VIN # for 2000 RAM 3500 cab and chassis,2WD,solid front axle,TBD,and what I received is a 32mm diameter stabilizer bar.The Dodge parts man says that the 32mm diameter stabilizer bar is the factory size that came with my truck according to the VIN #.

I guess it is possible that a previous owner switched to a 34mm stabilizer bar,but everything looks stock on the truck and the bar and bushings appear to be original judging by their wear.

Does anybody have a truck like mine ?

I believe the diameter of stabilizer bar should be the same on the 2000 4WD RAM 3500 TBD as well.

I would appreciate it, if you could measure the bar with a dial caliper or micrometer on a straight portion of the bar in order to determine whether 32mm or 34mm is the original diameter.

32mm= ~1.260" 34mm=~1.340"

Thanks! Barry

I only have a 96 2500 4x4, but I could measure it if you'd like.

and I didn't think you could get a straight axle up front w/ 2wd what gives?

Hi b.lee,
I am no expert,but I believe all the RAM 3500 2WD trucks from 1998.5 to 2001 have solid steel tube axles.The front end basically has the same components as the 4WD RAM 3500 minus the Dana axle.

I appreciate the offer,but I really need someone with a 2000 RAM 3500 to check the diameter of the stabilizer bar.

Thanks!

Not quite , all Cab And Chassis models have a solid front axle , but no 4x4, the regular Cab and Box trucks have independant front suspension.
