Ram- 1 , deer - 0
Dad hit a Deer with the 97 saturday night , about 60 MPH, Bambi lost this fight big time , hit it dead center in the front of the truck , and it was down low enough that the bumper took the hit.
The truck appears to have no damage whatsoever , one headlight looked a tad off kilter to me, and the tires lost some rubber.
The truck took the hit alot better than my sisters 2003 cavalier , she got hit by a deer (passenger door) , it was bad enough that the door had to be replaced...
Anyone else have an encounter with our furry (tasty) friends?

Coming around a curve at 70 mph, I found the entire highway had Antelope all over it.
I picked the path of least resistance...pegged one on the outer right on the Road Armor. Other then a few scratches...nothing else.
And the Antelope flew hard into the ditch and the rest of them took off.
I am certain I killed it.
I hate it when that happens.
Had a white tail jump in between my truck and 53ft wedge...what a mess...steam, blood and guts everywhere and it got caught up under the axles.
Just when I though I had missed them I feel this THUD, then the trailer jumps up and starts sliding.
After a couple hours on the highway and then another hour at the truck wash, all that was damaged was a dent in the tool box and broken brake wires.

WOW! I'm glad the biggest varmits I have to worry about around here squirrels, coons, armadillos and an occasional skunk. The skunks don't do any damage except to the nose.

I had one run under the trailer once when I was running 60 mph. Two axles with four tires with an axle weight of about 30,000 pounds works wonders. Can you say hamburger?

I haven't, yet, knock on wood.
A close family member did back in the 70's with a big old Ford sedan. Hit the buck at ~55 mph, square. Took the engine off of the mounts....
I also "heard" an interesting "statistic" once that Michigan has more dead deer per year due to close encounters with vehicles than lead/copper projectiles.
Now, as for you people that live up in moose territory.....yikes!

I have totaled out a couple of vechicles from deer. One was a escort that we had jsut gotten fixed from a deer. We were driving down the road at about 11 and hit it square. Dented the hook, fenders, and broke the grill. Then a week after we got it fixed I had one run into the fender/door. That car was a deer magnet. Then I had a ranger that had a little front end damage on it that I hit two deer with. One in the front and the other ran into the door. I killed one but the other one got away. They totaled that one out, only thing that the deer did was dent the door. And yes there are alot of deer hit here in michigan. I think we see just as many deer on the side of the road as we see other road kill.

I hit one in my 03 2500 with the driverside front bumper and that sent her up into my fender and front door, a total of about $2000 in damage.
Then I had one run into the front driverside fender of me new 05 and rolled down hitting every body panel on my truck, had to get new fender and two new doors then body work to the bed, that one was about $4200 in damage.

All these posts sound like a good excuse to place an order on roadarmor.com, We have a lot of deer up here as well, just missed one the other weekend with both kids in the back seat, not a pleasant thought of Bambi landing in my little girls lap....Going on holidays over xmas and new years, trying to arrange pickup of a roadarmor from the factory while I'm down there. I like my sport package, but plastic doesn't seem like the best defence material, 150lbs of American steel sounds a lot better to me.
