Really need more info guys. The fact that you posted to tell someone you PM'd them is pretty irrelevant. What happened. If you don't want to go public, don't make the post.

Sometimes members do not notice that they have a PM sitting up there, I PM'd Qz yesterday...Don't know if he's been logged in or not, if he has then he missed the PM so why not draw attention to it?
Why not just ignore the thread?

Commander
To All-
No big deal at this point. Knowing how busy Quad is, I was just trying to catch his eye and give him an opportunity to address. Nothing for current Commander owners to panic about. I still believe in the Commander. I will contact the company through the 800 number. When this issue is through I will comment on the service.
Regards

and then this
Most likely we will need to get it back to check it out. Never really had one read coolant temperature funny unless it was a connection problem. I am sure whatever it is we will find quickly. We are typically in and out in the same day and it gets fully tested.
Just a quick thought is that something is loose to make the screen mess up.
Now, the freaky part is that you truck stumbled and set all sort of crazy codes. High and Low codes and key codes? Something is pretty weird.
The first thing I will do is check it out and test it and see if we find a problem. If that does not work we will just send you a replacement. If that does not work there is only one other thing I have ever seen and there is actually a thread about it buried on here somewhere.
I think I have seen or heard of this particular thing twice now so it is pretty rare and would be a last ditch effort.
There have been trucks that have a weak or partially bad water temp sensor. What happens it that is cannot withstand and draw off of it at all, not even 20mA which is terrible. They may not be 100% "Bad" but, they might as well be if they cannot have any load.
I do not think this is the case though. Usually when this is the case the dash gauge follows the Commander and just stays really low or something.
Also, if you ever cannot get me (cause I do travel some) please call our support guys. They will help you! I like to do as much as I can on here but, when you have a problem you need to get it fixed ASAP! The tool free number is 888-842-6572
Follow-up from my last message. I was out today with the truck picking up parts for about two hours. The engine coolant temperature was reading screwy. When I got back home, I had some time to check things out. Unplugged and reconnected all plugs. No change. I had the Commander off the mount (engine running now), and flexed the wire connection on the commander. The screen went partially black and the engine stalled... Oh oh. Restarted and had a check engine light and a bell. Shut everything off and cycled the key to get the codes. I now have the following:
P0107 Manifold Pressure sensor low
P0118 Engine Coolant Temperature High
P0073 Ambient Temperature High
P0017 Engine Coolant Temperature Low
P0513 Invalid Key????? Don't understand this one-I am using the Dodge key that came with the truck.

Regarding the high coolant temp code, at one point I got that, along with the factory gauge freaking out, along with some other things, including the truck not wanting to start. I replaced the sensor and my problems persisted. The end result was that the Commander ground was not so good. My own fault, totally, that Quad's tech Roark helped me to find.

Qzilla,
Appreciate the response. I have been playing phone tag with Roark. We will hook up sooner or later. The dash coolant temperature gauge has been normal, so I would assume (yea, I know what that means), the sender is ok. Do you have a chart with the voltage and reading correlation the Commander is calibrated for? That would help out some. Although at this point, I am leary of hooking it back up. I need the truck to run. Looking at the cable entering the back of the Commander, the circuit board is full of sharp points from the component soldering where the cable can contact them. This could possibly be the source of the fault.
The Commander is a great product and I have confidence the problem will be resolved quickly.

David

Qzilla,
New commander replacement received and installed. Seems to be reading everything ok. Will try it on the road this weekend and let you know if any problems are noticed.
Any feedback as to what happened with the old unit?
Thanks for the quick service!

Quad,
Ran the commander this weekend. Everything seems to be ok except the top left corner of the screen is black. Read the threads about the issue and I have the latest software version (V_1.3?), installed from the web site. Is there an upate to this to stop the blackout?
Thanks,
David
