Quick tranny question

When you remove the valve body from the transmission and the accumalator piston and spring fall, is there suppose to be 2 springs, one above and one below the accumulator piston because the transmission book i got and the online program i downloaded for my truck shows in their pictures that there is 2 springs. And i just installed my new valve body and been havin problems and i know when i put it in i only put the lower spring back in cause i dont remember another spring falling out. So thats my question is there one or two springs in the 48re transmission cause if theres two then that could be the reason for my problems right now.

Come on. Nobody? I know there are many people that have taken their valve bodys out before.

Hang on a little longer. There are some good tranny people here. They must be busy or something.

I always have Automatic Tranny questions not knowing very much at all about them internally. Drove a 6sp for the last 9 years.

yeah it doesn't seem like a very hard question i know many of guys have taken their valve bodies out many of times so i know somebody knows. if there is 2 springs and i only have 1 now then i wonder if that could be the reason my truck slippes in reverse and third gear now since the installation of my valve body and t/c. any input at this point would be highly appreciated

because when i put it into reverse you can feel it engage into reverse but just barely, nothing like when you can feel it engage into drive. but when you give it gas it just revs up almost like its in neutral. and when in drive the truck will shift from first to second and then you can feel it shift into third and it just slips almost like its in neutral again. im startin to think the front clutch pack is gone and the tyranny needs rebuilt but im just tryin to go through anything else it possibly could be before i go through rebuilding

In reverse the front clutch and the rear band are applied
In 3rd gear, the front clutch and the rear clutch are applied.
