Questions on programmers

I am looking at buying an 03 with a 6 spd. My questions is what is the best upgrade in power avaliable. I have heard several people brag on the smarty I believe it is, but I have no idea what that is. Also what are some cost estimates on performance upgrades. The truck I am talking about is just plain jane except for a 4" straight pipe.

All trucks are plane jane off the showroom floor until you get them home and mod them.

I would recommend the Smarty as the best overall downloader, and the Quad Race as the best overall fueling box.

A Smarty is good, I really like my Diablo Predator it's nice and smooth and all the other features are a plus. Which ever you choose don't plan on having the stock clutch hold much over 80 extra hp, mine slipped the first time with an extra 100 then it would slip with 80 if I romped on it.

I like my diablosport programmer it is smooth and give good usable power. MY clutch ( which I'm assuming is stock, but I don't know truck had 65000 on it when I bought it) has held very well to even stacking the diablosport with my juice.

Considering it's an 03 I thought I would clarify that it had no mods on it. How much would a smarty cost?

Well 1st.......when looking into performance ur gonna have to turn ur head on the cost issue. if u dont have the money to fix it, dont do it. Like Im the one to be talking . The smarty is a programmer...a big programmer and WILL take out ur clutch. Smarty is between 4-800$ whether its new or used. Clutch, 1000-3000 buck! Gauges, 4-500 installed. Intake 2-300$. You have to let people know what kind of power ur looking to get and what ur ging to do with it.

mainly a daily driver I will pull gooseneck trailers from time to time. Basically I am looking for a little better fuel economy and I don't my dmax and powerstroke buddies to be eating my lunch! I guess 100 hp max would be all I would be interested in.

I have $7000 tied up in what you see below. You'd save about $1000 due to being a stick.

SMARTY is still for you. You can choose rom 10 different programs in the smarty from 30hp to 130 hp extra. It is up to you on what you run the settings at. it is a downloader, so you can not change it on the go, you have to stop and change it...

I made an extra 160hp on the 130 hp setting. The makers of that programmer really low ball the numbers, and there product is great. There customer service is pretty good to..

I'm running my Edge box on 4, the MP-8 turned all the way up and have not slipped the clutch yet. I'm ging to be adding the SMARTY shortly, and then I will be running the Edge on 0. Mainly only keeping the Edge for the Attitude (gauge).

I don't think you will find a person on here that does not like the SMARTY!!!!!

Diablo stack all the way! It's not as much as the Smarty and one guy on here had the Diablo stack on 03 and made 503 on the stock turbo with it. You can pick up the Diablo Predator and Puck for $380. Now thats some bang for your buck there!

Thumbs up Gear Jammer

DiabloSport is by far the best choice if you want to save a few $$$$

Smooth power throughout the entire RPM range, smoke (if ya want it) & fairly inexpensive....
