A lot depends on what year truck you are looking at.

03-early 04's have some differences from the 04.5-early 07's.

Things that don't change include:

Ball joints
universal joints
injector problems due to poor factory fuel filtration and people running ramped up pressure on daily drivers.
transmissions (mostly when modified)
I'm sure others can add to this list

As far as high mileage, these motors break in at 100,000...so you can start from there.

Good luck in your hunt for a diesel.

if you find a truck you like look at the cover for the fuse block in the engine compartment, if you see tape residue or a vlecro patch that is a fairly good indication that it had a box on it. also look at the exhaust to see if there any less than stellar welds on it, if there is there is a good chance somebody had some coin in the truck. those are a few things to look for if your looking for a unmolested truck. Though a completely stock truck may have had the crap beaten out of it while a modified truck may have been pampered. you get my point.

An '02 is a completely different truck than an '03.

It does sound like a nice truck, tho.
