Question about wait to start lamp?
The truck is a 06, ever since new I have never seen the wait to start light come on? I've read the manual and it says it should come one every time the truck is started? Is this still true for 06's? Truck seems to start better or faster if I wait a few seconds before cranking the motor. Thanks

It's been in the 40s here in Oregon a few mornings since I bought the truck and the light does not even wink, sounds like another trip to the dealer.

you probably know this but the wait to start is a "pigtail" emblem and it does not say "wait to start" like in the past trucks. It's on the left side of the cluster below the RPM gauge.
just in case you where not aware of this yet.

Advocate of getting the ban button used on him...
I belive the temp needs to be down to less than 60°F to come on. I have only seen mine 3 times. We had a couple mornings down in the 50° range last week.

Remember also the WTS is based on temps in the maniflod, not necessarily the ambient. I use the block heater. This morning it was 32 degrees, the WTS light didn't come on (w/o the heater it would have) but as soon as I fired up the voltmeter dropped like a rock telling me the grids were firing.
Only be concerned if you DON'T see the voltmeter fluctuate on a cold morning.
I think the manifold temp has to be below 55 degrees, not sure of the exact temp.

I think 55 is correct. What amazed me is how much less time is needed for the WTS light to go out from my '02 to my '03 to my '06. 95% of the time, there is no WTS light and I can just go; much better than in prior years.

Mine too, but I think they changed it for the 06's.
I like the fact that it comes on everytime, personally. I am just in the habit of always looking for it and there it is....then it goes away quickly when warm or a few seconds later when cold...then crankerup.

I saw the "pigtail" for the first time this morning. It was 48 cold degrees on the overhead. Waaayyy too cold for October(this is a January temp). Set a record this morning. Saturday set a record high of 91.

Not necessarily. As I noted earlier, I used the BH this morning and even though the WTS light didn't come on (at 32 ambient) I saw the grids fire. I know the light works because I can't plug in at work and...there it is when I fire up to go home...

Thanks for all the replys guys this site rocks! Well I've been watching it more and more closely since I realized it was the pigtail light and not the security light lol, but I did see it come on for the first time today, The truck was in the driveway all night and it was 42 on the overhead. The light barley flickered! So I guess it is working as designed. I'm gona watch the voltage gauge tommarow. Thanks again!
