Question about Medium Duty

I was reading a thread here a while back where someone had said that the CTD in the Dodge trucks were a Medium Duty engine in a Light Duty truck.

What exactly does that mean?? Is the CTD like a heavy equipment or semi tractor engine ??

Thanks,

Basically, the engine is built tough.

It is used in some medium duty (heavier) trucks.

it means you've got a 1,000,000 mile motor in a 150,000 mile truck. :-)

Thanks,
the one in your truck isnt used for semis because thats more than medium duty. They use these motors in buses, medium duty trucks which are flatbeds or like a 26' box truck. I think 26,000 lbs is the max weight to be considered medium duty
