Question about KDP
Hi Everyone,
I have read a lot about this killer dowel pin. It scares me to say the least. Does it affect all Cummins B engines within a certain range of years? I have a 96, 210 HP in a Freightliner FL 60.
Thanks, and I love DTR.com!

Re:Question about KDP
The pin in question can be found in all 12 valve Cummins engines in the 2nd Gen trucks (94 - 98.5)
Now, Im not certain about the first gen engines... Perhaps others can answer that one.
Ive also read where some of the first 98.5 24 valve engines may have this pin as well.

Turfquip-
The company I drive for had one drop out in an 8.3 liter Cummins. I pinned the 5.9 in their '96 Ford not long afterwards. Take care of yours ASAP, out of 8 I've done, 5 had worked part way out. You didn't give your location, I've done several for DTR members near me (Philly area).

Wow. Thanks everybody. Dern thing's like a timebomb waiting to destroy your engine.

Anybody in my area available to repair my KDP? Will most shops be aware of this? I assume so but you know what they say...
At what mileage do they typically let go? Mine's got 76K. Many of those miles were at 2500 to 2800 RPM since it is a 5 speed and has highway miles (2800 @ 65 mph)
