Currently I have the bilstein 5100s. They are good shocks, but i find their bushings are way too small for what I'm doing. I take a lot of washboard for hours on end with 2000lbs+ in the box. Daily. The bushings on my bilsteins were completely gone in 25,000miles. I changed all the bushings and things are ok for now, but eventually i will want new shocks.

Any clue who makes some heavy duty shocks for our trucks, something with proper size bushings and bolt sleeves, heavy duty body or dual reservoir or whatever would help make my truck ride better and last a bit longer under harsh conditions.

The rear shocks need to be long enough to move freely with the suspension, I think when truck is just sitting their they measure 27.5" in length, center of eye to eye.

Finally where could I order such shocks from.

I will consider multiple shock setups, but their mounting points have to be beefy.

FOX or KING should have what you need. I'd call someone like Don Thuren and have him custom valve a set for you.

From what I understand you may have issues with a decent 2.5" shock in the front. I understand there will be spring and shock contact with a 6" lift spring. the main reason many of the upper end suspension companies done have a 6" lift. You may be ok with a 2" shock body, not sure.

So thinking to go to a multi shock setup may help in the front. I have even heard of people just running a external shock up front. That way they do not have a interference issue and can run a 2.5" shock. Look at the Kore technical series suspension, they run a 2" shock for this 5.5" lift.

Multiple OEM type shocks up front may help, but they are still the same bushings. If you go this route, make sure they are set up with the correct valving. Other wise your ride will be harder than you may like.

If you know the shock travel you want, all the shock companies list their travel. The expanded and compressed values. Then call them and they can set them up for you, the valving. Typically the front is still at 10" of travel no matter what the lift height. The travel is limited by longer bump stops.

In the rear it is a different story. You can easily put 2.5 or larger shocks on. 3" shocks as well.

FOA ( www.f-o-a.com ) shocks are a possibility as well, there very close in design as the king prerunner series at a little less that half the cost. If your not baja racing your truck, they"re a great option.

There are mis-alignment rings out there so the shock does not contact the coil w/ the bigger shock.

Dirt Logic 2.25 Resevoirs are awesome. I blew through bilsteins, I blew through Superlifts resevoirs, so far these are the best bang for the buck I think.

Hey guys.

Thanks for all the tips, I will research them all. After installing new front bushings into my bilsteins today, getting the wrong part from superlift after a 1 month wait, i'm done both with their crap, and with bilstein.

I will search about all the ones you have mentioned, and go from there.

Anyone with pics of these shocks?
