Quad commander fuel pressure guage ???

My commander fuel pressure has been acting up lately. It will every once in a while jump down to 0 psi at idle, then kick back up to the 18-19 when I accelerate or am driving. I have checked my filter mounted guage at idle when the quad is reading 0, and the filter mounted one reads 19 steady. Anyone know what this could be. Pressure sending unit going out on the quad???

I have know idea what it is but mine has been doing it for the past 3 weeks.
Roark told me that they were looking into a more heavy duty sensor in the next few weeks and to keep checking back with him.

Me Too

Same thing is happing to me. I was actually towing a Polaris Ranger home and I switched from rail pressure to fuel pressure and thought I had a big problem. It was 0 and pretty much stayed there. I went back and checked my rail the pressure was good so I just kept on going. What gives?

I'm just waiting to see if anyone else has had this problem. I e-mailed Roark at quad, and he has still not got back to me yet. I have this posted on another site, and only 1 response there.

I'm having the same issue. The fuel pressure unit is good, but I'm having a pin contact issue at where the wire harness connects to the Commander harness. It's a connector issue at the fuel pressure harness. I've got it part to figure out that this is were the problem is, but I have had enough time to fix it.

I'll keep you posted.

Mine does the same thing as well. When i first installed it the truck would shut down funny, the motor would flare up when the key was turned off. So i did some investigating thinking the ground was not good. That wasnt the problem, the power supply was the problem. The fuse they tell you to use, i think its #28 is hooked to some kind of circuit that goes to a computer. Apparently it was backfeeding when i turned the key off. So i hooked it directly to the battery and no weird shutdowns. So i just hooked it up with the same fuse that i am running my fass (#40) with, and no more problems except for the fuel pressure reading problem.

I am having the same problem for about a month now. It didn't work at all up north when it started to get cold and now that I'm in Arizona it will just bounce all around but usually stays near zero. I don't know if heat or cold is a factor or coincedence. I have reseated the plugs so many times I am afraid I will wear them out. Tapping on the sending unit usually gets me a reading for a few seconds so I am pretty sure that is where the problem is.

Question for Quad: I am getting the glacier diesel fuel boss mechanical pump installed soon. Will this sending unit work with the higher pressures or will I need a different one? Also should we just sit tight until you get a handle on the sending unit problem or request a replacement now? Thanks, Tom J.

Mine has gone out in the past few weeks also. I was also told by Roark that they are looking into replacing them with a better sensor. My guess is the vibrations coming from the motor is killing the sensor. When I bump the starter to get the pump to run, the sensor reads great. It goes nuts as soon as the truck starts up. Is there a way to relocate the sensor away from the motor. I saw this, would it be a possible? Or am I just think to far outside the box?

Here is what I know right this second.

The manufacturer that makes the sensor has about 15 units that we sent them, that we deem as "failures". Now, since I do not make this particular part, I do not know what is breaking them.

We use the same sensor but in 0-100psi on Ford trucks and do not have this issue. They agree that it is failing but, cannot tell us why yet.

They have sent us 2 "new" sensors that we are testing on our trucks right now. So far, so good. They seem to be a LOT more stable too. We do not have a concrete answer as to why or what is different but, we do know they seem better.

Now, it is going to be a period of time before we have them. What we are doing right this second is replacing any bad ones. Really as a percentage it is not all that many. We have went through thousands and thousands of them and only some of them are giving us fits. As we get the newer sensor (if that is what is deemed needed) I will let you know and we will replace any bad ones of course.

I am sort of fighting with them right now as they are trying to raise the pricing but, I will not let a few $$ stop us from getting them.

The weird part is they usually seem to be good for a while and then slowly die out. It could be the vibration?? Not sure.

It just goes to show if you want something done right you dang near have to do it yourself. That is the ONLY issue I ever have with the Commanders and it drives me nuts.

So, I will keep you posted. In the meantime if you get a bad sensor call Jeremy at 888-842-6572 and he will get you a replacement. Your replacement may last a lifetime??? Usually or normally people do not have back to back bad ones, it has happened but, pretty uncommon.

Any update on how much longer until the newer sending units are shipped. I have the same problem and have already spoken with Roark about it. Not a big deal, I turn it off and monitor oil temp. Thanks again QUAD. Scotty

I dont think mine is from vibration, unless the fass is shaking it to death.
