Quad Boost Fooler = too much boost?
Installed Quad's Boost Fooler on my '06 along with the BD Crazy Larry tune. My Isspro boost gauge maxes out at 40PSI. 1/4 throttle will bury the boost gauge at 40PSI - not sure how much PSI is really running. Took of the Boost Fooler and the boost pressure is down to 25PSI (32 max). But, I really miss the kick-you-in-your-butt acceleration. Have not even considered studs or a better head gasket. Other threads mention something about blowing up the turbo if it passes 40PSI.
So, how much boost is too much for an '06? I certainly don't want to blow up anything.

I agree with Mike, get a 60psi gauge. I have only seen about 40psi on my 60 gauge at WOT with the Crazy Larry on Extreme. I think if your doing it once in awhile, you should be okay with the stock charger. However, if you want more boost, you need a bigger turbo.

Will spiking past 40PSI cause problems with the stock turbo or head?

the factory turbo will not live very long at those speeds. the head is ok(assuming fully warmed up) until around 50-55psi if you dont go crazy with timing. get a bigger turbo if you want to run higher volume and pressures, nothing like 50psi worth of fun!

40 is fine. more than that is risky. With ur setup being the same as mine, from a dead stand still u wont get more than 42-43..ok. starting at 60 going up u will sling past 45 not knowing it......Experience....not cool

I do not believe that the actual amount of boost is what necessarily blows the stock turbos. Don't get me wrong 50psi is much more than it will handle. The biggest killer is barking the turbo. Getting in and out of the throttle harshly and things like that.
I have heard of turbos breaking in a weird fashion but, usually it involves barking it.
I would get a boost gauge first and then make your mind up if you are making too much boost. Remember that 40psi is only 8psi more than stock. We have plenty of customers that run in the low 40's on a regular basis that do not blow turbos up. If you know you are going to be rough on it you are going to need a turbo at some point though.

) , I rarely put my foot into it. I certainly don't do any 4wheel 20PSI launches - just some minor hot-rodding once in a while.Putting the CL tune on has really increased the performance of the truck!

05 6speed with ez + hot juice stack, i thought that boost foolin was built into one of these,but sometimes it cuts out under high boost conditions like someone mentioned earlier and got me to wandering if maybe i need a boost fooler?
