Quad Boost Fooler?

I just got a Quadzilla boost fooler yesterday and i was reading the little handout and it said not to use it with plugin modules. Is this true, can i just unplug my juice from the map sensor and plug the quad in? Anybody else run the boost fooler with the Attitude/Juice. I was a little upset when i saw that and i hope i didn't waste my money

you didnt waste your money, it can probably be returned or sold since its new.

does your existing plug in module boost fool? if so, then you dont need a separate boost fooler.

The boost fooler is to be used with units that don't boost fool, programmers, like the Smarty. Also, when I was running the Quad STD, in the OFF position you still have boost fooling in play, I noticed I had a little quicker bottom end power for towing when the unit was OFF. When I sold the Quad STD and took it off, I lost a little fuel mileage. Made me think about that a little, so I got a boost fooler and put it on, guess what, I got back my fuel mileage. So it looks like boost fooling just might increase fuel mileage all by itself, or at least that's what I have seen happen to my truck's fuel milleage.

I am also all stock other than intake and exhaust, Do you think that just a boost fooler would help my EGT's???

Hey RRC.

You know, I bet it just might. I really did not look to see if it had affected my EGTs when I put the fooler on. I will say this, without it being part of the equasion my EGTs towing were running higher than they had been previously with a fooler in play, and my cool-down time has been longer too now that I think about it, even unloaded cool down time.

Something about 3K miles with lower fuel mileage and hotter EGTs pulling the same 14K as always, you and the gauges all that time, you DO pay more attention. Calculator in hand at the pump - less fuel mileage DOES also get your attention. I will take a better watchful eye on the EGT's, but my best guess is that it does provide some benefits all by itself without timing/duration/fuel pressure etc coming out of a box. I'm also thinking about putting on a Roktech to benefit from just a 'little' timing change as compared to what the boxes have programmed in them - I had too much timing rattle from my Quad STD - finicky 2006, some of us have them, some don't.

I know that on my gas turbo charged car, adding a little boost pressure and adjusting the timing slightly DID net better fuel mileage. I cannot see why the same could not apply to a diesel. These trucks/Cummins engine has more than enough power to meet my needs, I'm just looking for a little better fuel efficiency and a quicker bottom end, curbing some of the turbo lag if you will.

I know the juice already boost fools but I can only reach 36 psi and i don't get that much black smoke so i was hoping the quad would help out with that. Thanks for the link AkitaSumo it really helped out a lot and i'm anxious to try it out.

I have a boost fooler. It wouldnt seem to work with a triple dog but it works good with my smarty. I dont think mine was a waste of money. anything that will keep the engine light off is not a waste of money for me

More boost = Less smoke, not more. With a stock turbo you don't want your boost too high because it becomes inefficient and can increase your egt's.

I ran it one time and then it reset itself. It works great with other downloaders

IM agreeing with him. if you cant afford an aftermarket turbo I would not push it to 48lbs all the time. it wont last long doing that. if you can afford to get another turbo then its not a big deal. those turbos are only good until about 40 psi, anything higher than that is a gamble
