Question pyrometer and tranny gauge help

Where do you guys have your pyrometer mounted on the side before the turbo manfold or on top between 1 and 3. ANd where do you guys think its the best for tranny temp in the line, in the pan, or in the passnger side test port

I mounted mine on top in between 3 and 4. I put my tranny probe in the hot line because it reads the hottest part, and the fluid flows past it, in the pan or the port it pools and so the fluid never circulates past it and it can read low because of that. If you have ever read the directions of an autometer temp gauge, they always tell you to mount it so that the probe is in the stream of the fluid/water and never let the probe touch any metal (other than the coller that holds it down) because it can absorb the heat.

My guage pyro is in the "collector" for 4-6, the down portion of the manifold right before the turbo. The pyro attached to my Edge/attitude is in the top measuering 1-3.
(4-6 will give you the hotest reading you will see)

I bought the trans temp line from diesel manor and tapped the hot line coming out of the transmission, again so I can see the hotest temps the trans is seeing.

I put the pyro in the collector of 4&6 down portion like stacked did because like he said that should be your hottest reading.

I put the tranny temp guage in the pan so I could get a general temp of the tranny and see if the transmission coolers were actually working. There are a lot of opinions on this one so it is kind of up to you. If you go inline you are reading the hottest fluid after it comes off the clutches, in the port which is the easiest but I don't know how much fluid is circulating through there, in the pan I know all the fluid goes through there so that's what I monitor.
