I am going to have to leave my Pyro probe in my 06 b/c I can't find a bolt that will plug the hole correctly. They are coming to pick up the 06 tomorrow so I don't have time to keep messing with this. How much is a replacement Pyro prob? Thanks for the help.

I am assuming that you used a NPT 1/8" correct? Either way, find out what size pipe tap you used, head to Autozone, etc and ask the guy behind the desk for a 1/8" NPT (or whatever size you used) nut...he SHOULD know what you are talking about. Just let him know that you had an EGT probe in your manifold and are taking it out and need the plug for it...they don't usually stock these on the shelves for some odd reason?

If you traded the truck in or someone else is buying it, a bolt or quick plug will do. If its a private party, just let him know you had a pyro in it and its plugged off, if its a dealership, id just throw a bolt in it and let them have it

The size is between a 3/8 and 7/16 fine thread. I tried both last night but could not get either to seat right. I did trade the truck in but I just can't make myself turn in a truck that has leaking manifold, I'd rather just leave the pyro. I will try one more time to find a good plug but I running out of time and my wifes tolerance.

I understand that it is fine thread and it appears that 1/8" NPT plug seems WAY too small, but you would be surprised. Almost ALL EGT probes use a 1/8" national pipe tap to thread the hole, so I am willing to bet that's it. How far away from an Autozone, Advanced Autoparts, etc, are you? If you go there and tell them you need a 1/8" national pipe tap plug, you can at least get yourself a look at one.

That is what I did when I moved mine, put a bolt in the old hole.

They had a brass pluge that was the 1/8 NPT. When I get home after awhile I'll see if it will work. It is alot of work getting a new truck!!!!

Most pyro probes are 1/8" NPT (pipe thread) or 1/4" NPT.

Don't just cram a non-NPT bolt in there because it seems to fit. You'll damage the threads so the next guy can't use the hole.

Bigger than it sounds, isn't it? As stated above, don't just try and put any old bolt in there. 1/8" NPT have MUCH different threads than just any bolt that will go in. Hope it works for ya.

B. I used a 1/8 NPT tap when I installed the probe so the plug I got should work on it.

Good idea to apply some anti-seize to that plug also.
