Putnam hitch installed.

I put a Putnam 25211 hitch on my 2006 3/4 ton Dodge today.
This is how it went.

yeah that puppy is heavy. I only found one use for one set of the pipe bushings for some reason.... two were left over.

I got lucky in that my truck didn't come with a factory hitch so no grinding for me.

Also, the two allen bolts didn't snug up the hitch to the plate so I threw a couple washers in there to make up the space.

Good hitch though. 1600lb toungue capacity .

The only downside was that I couldn't fit a 315 spare back up in there. Wonder if a 285 will work??

My spare (285) works fine. I also had 2 unused bushings. They were needed if you but this hitch on a Dodge 1500.

Okay os I guess I missed something... You have to cut the old receiver off to install a new one?

I wonder what a non-hitch cross member costs? Like the ones that didn't have the hitch from the factory. If it isn't too expensive, I'd prefer replacing that part as opposed to cutting or burning the old one off.

The hitch looks great by the way, I'd like to get mine upgraded to a class 5 soon as well.

Did yours snug up to the old hitch holes for the factory hitch... The two big allen bolts, because mine didn't and I put a washer in there to make up the space... I might still snug it down some more.

I think I'll find a 285 spare....

Isn't the cross tube welded on?

The cross tube/member isn't welded on....But you have to lift the bed off the frame to swap it out!!!!

I have this same hitch. Love it. I use a 28" extension to get out past my camper and it is holding up very well with 500lb tongue weight out on that extension.
