put on 5" and lost power. what to do??
I put 5 inch straight pipe exhaust on my truck and I lost significant power. It is 4 inch DP that goes to five inch under the pass seat into a straight pipe that exits in the rear.
after I lost the power I bought a 62/65/12 turbo out of a fit of rage.
the power got me back to where I was at and then a little bit more ( no Dyno numbers).
I am wondering when I go home for Turkey day break if I should weld up my factory 3.5 inch DP to try and see if I can get a couple more ponies.. If I weld in the factory one it will most likely have to stay that way.
do you think it would be of any benefit to me to put the factory DP in to get a couple ponies back? or just be happy with where its at right now?

max i have a muffler in the shop. i can see if the guy who owns it wants to get rid of it. Andy owns it but he is running straight piped with his new 8" single miter with 5" turbo back. he is deaf anyways so he probably won't use it! LOL

Max do you have the 4" elbow off the turbo or 3.5" still??? I found that the 3.5" helps keep spoolup volume when it exits the turbo over the 4". Might help you some. If not you are in need of a little extra backpressure.

I have the 3.5 factory 2003 elbow.
I was unsure if a muffler would do the trick, or if the factory DP would do it. I am very low on funds right now so trying to get HP on the cheap.

quit being a tightwad! LOL... If you are in the area, you know my doors are open and can crash at my place anytime. I have that muffler in the shop and we can try it and if it don't work then we go back to drinking

haha, So are you saying I should hold off on my DP Chris, and just plan a weekend trip to your place sometime? and try some different options?

not that I know of. march is the big Diesel Drags and Offroad Gathering, then the Families of Fallen Soldiers Dyno in May
I am headed to Dallas on the 1st. I can ask Andy if he wants to donate the muffler for a test run and I can drop it off on my way thru. will be late though on the 30th as i am leaving after work
