Pusher Pumps in the Outback

How do the frame mounted pumps hold up to off road driving? I do a fair amount of driving on gravel roads, and have been know to drive thru pastures with high grass and brush. I'm considering installing one, but am a little concerned about it being exposed to the elements.

If you mount it inside the frame so that it doesn't stick out and you make a small shield of sheetmetal it's rather sturdy.

I do 50% of my work miles (not to mention hunting miles) on County Roads and gravel roads. Have had full FASS for over 15,000 miles with no problems. In fact, looked it over this weekend and found NO big nicks or any dents.

Long beds seem to handle debris that far back better than the short beds. We were able to tuck my FASS up pretty high by welding the bracket to the side frame rail support....bottom of filters is even with bottom of frame (see gallery).

FASS II is even better protected....and cheaper.

I've got mine mounted on the outside of the frame rail and actually dropped it on a ledge and slammed the pump into it and it has held up fine.
