Pump or Turbo?
I have been have an inconsistant problem with my engine for the last serveal months.
Once in a while when I accelerate whether just starting off or at speed, the boost builds very slowly. It seems like it is getting fuel because the speed is increasing slowly.
Does anyone have any idea where I should start looking? Any help sure would be appreciated.

get a fuel pressure gauge and see if the lift pump is still strong. change fuel filter recently?
reset the APPS, (under "tech facts" in the 24V 2nd engine and drivetrain)
thats a start

13psi is where you should be at idle, but what happens when you get on it?
Once you do build boost does it maintain or spike and then fall back?

my truck use to build and hold 34-36 psi, now in 4th and 5th gears it will spike 35 and fall off to 29 and sometimes even 25psi...but shift to 6th and it will hold that 36-37psi like nothing. i just dont get it.
dunno if its wastegate, fueling, or what

Sounds like you and I have the same problem. My 99 3/4 ton (standard 5 speed) Dodge has inconsistent power problems. It may run fine for a while and then suddenly "run" but with much less power. I have changed the fuel filter...no change. Auto Zone said they can pull the codes but until I have an engine light come on, they probably can't diagnose the current problem. I will keep you informed if I have an engine light come on and am able to diagnose. I have not checked fuel pressure since I would have add the pressure guage. When I changed the fuel filter, the lift pump seemed to work properly. Will keep you informed.
