Pulled the trigger, 03 2500 SLT SB 4X4 HO

It looks like a trip from New York to Golden Colorado this week, picking up my new Silver 03 2500 HO QC SLT 4X4 SB.

Christopher Dodge had the best price so I did it, even with the expenses of flying out there and the return drive still the best deal. Plus I am looking forward to the drive home if you can believe that ! (wife thinks I'm insane)

Keep an eye out for me heading East from Colorado this Friday, not sure whats the best route from there is, if anyone has any ideas let me know. I have not even looked at a map yet....I'm not sure of my choices.

I guess it's important to vary the speed, thats what I have heard.

Betcha I can't sleep tonight.

Good for you Ron. Don't worry about varying your speed. Just get in and enjoy it. Don't forget to have those guys verify ALL the fluids, especially your trans and rear end. THe rear ends a notorious for being low as much as a pint.

Good luck.

Re:Pulled the trigger, 03 2500 SLT SB 4X4 HO

Congratulations I'm sure you will love it!

Just out of curiosity, how much was invoice and how much did you pay?

I would use Mapquest to get you home. You could put in Golden, CO to New York, NY and then click "add options" and then check "Avoid tolls, if possible." Otherwise you'll be going on 76 E -> 80 E the whole way.

I am in NJ and for what it's worth I flew into Austin TX got picked up by the dealer, drove to La Grange and then drove home from there. It was just about the same length as your trip (1700 miles or so) and I had an awesome time. I brought my CB for entertainment and I even slept in the back.

When the roads were clear I'd go up to 80 MPH and then let it coast down to 50 MPH and then back up to 80 MPH for like 10 minutes at a time (but I didn't have too much patience for lots of that). Mostly I was hauling a$$ going 75MPH.

Hey Ron thets great news!I am glad my man could help you out on your new truck! He is really about $2000.00-4000.00 cheaper than any other dealer around. If anyone else is interested in an 03 or 04 call him.The number is 303.238.7311-ans for Hal Turley in fleet sales. No salesman games, just an honest answer on the phone for a price-really.I have been dealing with him for some time,no better deals.thanks, good luck,Greg B.

I'm actually looking forward to the trip, might take some scenic roads if I get a chance.

The MSRP on that truck was 39k and after rebates it cost 32,497.

Much better then any local dealer in New York, plus availability of an 03 HO was going down fast...

Re:Pulled the trigger, 03 2500 SLT SB 4X4 HO

Glad to see you found one.

silver looks nice and that was what I was going to get. The silver truck was damaged and repaired at some point and it was leaking p/s fluid.

Yeah, I crawled under every truck to check it out before I bought and I have had no problems...yet.

Enjoy it. ;D

that's a long way back for warranty repairs! i'll bet your local dealer will love when you come rolling into his shop for a warranty repair that pays .15 posted rate and takes an HOUR.

Dealer gets paid by Dodge (Daimler/Chrysler) for doing repair work.
They get a small percentage of what they would charge if it wasn't covered under warranty.
Dealers don't really like doing warranty work when they could be using that time charging $75 bucks for a fuel filter change.

Re:Pulled the trigger, 03 2500 SLT SB 4X4 HO

I understand the warranty issue full well, BUT both my local dealers had little or no stock of HO's and what they had they wanted $3,000 more than what I paid !!

As I told one dealer who did bring up the warranty side of bringing my truck to him for service, that 3G will buy me a lot of rental cars. The reason I bring up rental cars, this dealer said he only gives out loaners to people who bought cars from him. I can't really blame him....

Had the price difference been $500-$800 bucks I might have gone local but I don't like to be taken advantage of.

Maybe I could have gotten the priced down another thousand if I felt like playing the "game" with the local dealer, but I'm tired of that bullsh** they play. You know, "let me talk this over with my sales manager", "These cars are hard to come by" etc etc.
