Puff of blue smoke at start up......

Lately i have been getting a puff of smoke a start up (blue/gray in color) after she sits for awhile. Like at the end of work or over night when i fire her up to go home i get one puff and then it is clear. No noticable amoke it your rev the engine....and no noticable smoke while driving. Reading about all the bad ring issues lately has me paraniod. is this normal to get one puff??? i only have 82K miles on this 2006 truck.

I don't know if it's an issue. But I wouldn't worry about it. Some trucks puff black, others blue, and others black and blue. One thing for sure is they're all running still.

My truck puffs a little black on start up, and when it starts puffing blue, I'll just keep driving it.

I know this doesn't really help you, but I thought I'd just offer my 2 cents.

Thanks for the responses. She runs like a champ. Just wanted to know if needed to be concerned.

I get paranoid like that, listening for every knock and such. That said, mine will let out just a slight puff of bluish white smoke on startup. A lot of the color depends on how light hits it. For mine to not put a puff out on startup it has to be a day where temperatures stay over 60 or so the entire time. Its done it every since I started paying attention to such things a couple years ago.

I watch my oil level religiously and do oil sampling and have never had an issue with fuel in oil. It also runs smooth and will always run better after its been worked hard. Its good to get EGT up for a while.
