propane

I'm running it. Just a cheap cobbled together kit I got of ebay with a BBQ bottle. Nets me about a 1.5-2.0 fuel milage gain but that is pretty much offest by the cost of the propane. Adds about 20-25hp by my but-o-meter. Could get more if I turned it up more. Adds about 100-150F on the exhaust temps as well.
More mpgs and power maybe seen with a more expensive unit that is computer controlled. However those cost a LOT more, $800-$1000 vs the $200 I've got into mine.
I would say if you are doing something like this you are probably better off going with water/meth injection. About the same power boost but gives a reduction in EGTS as well.
You would have to drive a LONG time to get your money back in fuel savings, one BBQ bottle lasts just under one tank of fuel. So thats about $15CDN per tank for a 1.5mpg gain. With the Edge on 1(milage) I definatly feel a kick when it comes on(6psi), however with edge on 4 I hardly feel it at all but notice the truck puts out more black smoke so I'm guessing that with the edge on 4 its getting about as much fuel as it can handle and the extra "fuel" from the propane is going up in smoke.

I was just wondering because I have 25 gallon propane tank and i was thinking about mounting it under my bed where my spare tire used to go. Are you runing in liquid or gas. Does it open at wot or is it progressive? Is it somethig that could be ran on a mostly stock truck? I have a propane powered 4x4 so I kinda understand how that works. It runs liquid up to a vaporizer and then runs the vapor into a venturi, doesnt make that much power but it runs upside down.

Propane used to be called the poor mans fuel injection because it worked so well offroad.
My system can run either liquid or gas but the way its setup up now is it is drawing gas(vapour) of a BBQ bottle.
It is controled by a hobbs pressure switch that comes on a 6psi of boost. It is on or off but I do have a "regulator" to control how much propane is allowed in.

It was a kit I bought off e-bay about a year and a half ago. Not sure if he still sells them or not. Figure another $100 to have a proapne shop make up a supply line.
If you know propane you could proably build yourself a system.
