I've kicked around putting some kind of programmer in my 07 2wd Dodge, but I've heard from people around town that you have to be careful because of frying the clutch.

What are my limitations on what I can/can't do with the 6 speed manual tranny?

clutch life and programmers, boxes, etc., are all linked to your right foot.

Rule of thumb is 100H.P. increase is it and even at that you can break a clutch and other stuff if you act in a less then mature way .Same thing applys the automatics also.Lots leave them in a 60 h.p. range.Even a 30h.p. increase is a seat of the pants feel.

Slipping the clutch is a sure way to kill the clutch quick. I think 100 HP may be slightly optimisitic, but it does heavily depend on your driving styles. and agree with HoundDog, hopefully they are not telling you that only the six speed manual is susceptable to damage with extra power, as the automatics do indeed have their issues as well.

I had no issues with 35's and #7 on the Smarty. When i threw on the 37's i fried it.

I am stock with the smarty jr. on the Economy setting I can play as hard as I want on the 70hp towing setting I can feel it slip sliddin away when I play.

If you swap out to the 22.5s and keep the power up may need to look into a clutch... These clutches hate big tires even more than the power sometimes.

I first slipped mine with a 65 HP chip, ever since then anything over stock the clutch slips.

May be time to look at that new clutch? If you can prevent it from slipping under stock power it may last, but once it starts to slip under stock power I can't imagine the clutch is long for this world...

Yeah i've been tring to get the clutch to slip stock, but the darn thing keeps holding up. I am burning up for a Smarty and Southbend.

I understand that. What im saying is, i was fine until i introduced the extra strain of 37's. Its a good thing i already had the clutch waiting.

I run a 37 as well and Smarty Revo on #6 and it only slips a little when I'm going up on an interstate on ramp and steps on the go pedal a little to keep up with traffic. Other than that, it is holding fine. I took it to the track three weeks ago and ran it twice on the 1/4 with no problem. BTW, I have a SBC Economy DD in the garage just waiting for the stocker to die and the DD goes in.
