Programmers and Warranty

I have heard mixed ideas and opinions on this topic but I was wondering if using a programmer will void your warranty?

I am thinking about purchasing a Hypertech or Diablo programmer for use on my truck, but don't want to risk voiding the warranty on it...I have 20,000 miles on it now.

My assumption is that it depends on how the tech feels about the idea of a programmer is he voids the warranty or not. but I don't want to take any chances.

Don't take the chance with either one of those programers. They can see they were installed and bye-bye warranty. End of story. Dosen't matter who looks at it, it can happen. If you can't afford a big repair bill then don't do it. What I mean by big is $10,000, you get what I mean.

Yeah I know what you mean by the $10,000 repair. Thanks for the input. I'm not really looking for more power, but more mileage. This truck can pull anyting I've put it under so far.

If I bought a new 6.7 I wouldn't do anything to it. No gauges, no air filter, NOTHING!!! I would only put mud flaps, GN hitch, Brake controller and such. Sometimes I wish I would have never joined this site. It's addicting and a bunch of bad influences on here.....

Well I had enough foresite that I wasn't going to own a new 6.7 with all the changes that were made at one time. I was able to find a 5.9 and from some the horror stories ive heard of the 6.7s i'm glad i didn't get one. Although the Engine brake would be COOL!!!

Dealers will tell you anything voids warrenty. The Magnuson-Moss Act clearly states that the dealer can NOT void warrenty unless the dealer can prove that the non OEM part was DIRECTLY responsible for the problem, ie. if you don't oil your K&N ever and parts of it break off and damage your turbo.... your problem, add a programmer and a u-joint breaks, NOT your problem. i leave all my stuff in both trucks and my dealer has no problems with this. if your dealer says anything different, find a new dealer.
