what programmer to get?

came into a little cash, sold a hunting rig and want to get a programmer for my cummins. it is a 2000 4x4 2500, has 4" exhaust and bhaf, holley blue fuel pump, rest is stock. truck is an automatic and has 3:55 gears. i am running 285 tires also. basically want better fuel mileage and a little more gidddyup.
tranny was replaced some time before i bought as it has a dealer tag on the bellhousing showing it was rebuilt in 05. truck is my daily driver to station about 45 miles one way. do some pulling with it, but nothing real heavy, usually building supplies for the house or junk. truck is currently getting me 14-16 mpg driving, mostly highway stuff...can't decide which one to get. was looking at hypertech III and edge ez, anyone use these and what are your suggestions. also- my speedo is abit off with the tires and i would like to correct that with the programmer.
thanks
bill
p.s.- where i live there are a few hills, nothing like mountains though.

the smarty has a fuel economy setting and it make good power but if you like to mash the fuel it will kill the tranny in the higher power settings.
I have tried other boxes and seem to get best mpgs with smarty . but im thinking of switching to a quad box to see if i can tone down the smoke the smarty makes. my .02

I'm not sure if the hypertech does boost fooling to allow a few more pounds through, but I'm sure an EZ, smarty, or similar would do fine. The smarty could correct the speedo.

The smarty is the only choice out there for a programmer, lots of people rave about the XZT+ but i prefer programmers since they won't ever crap out on you (unless your ecu does that is)

Get an Edge with attitude, has all the gauges and significant power increase if you turn it up, fuel saving mode too. Easy to install took me about 3 hours total time. I just put one on my 02 and love it, found it on EBAY for 400.00

I've read posts of programmers locking up an ECM and the only way to fix it was to replace the ECM...with a box (edge/quad/puck) you can always unplug it and run it, cant do that if the programmer messes up the ECM .I read a post recently of a diablo programmer freezing up an ECM, and in the end a Smarty did load a recovery program to "fix" the ECM, but from what I've read it does not work every time, in this case the guy got lucky.

If ya buy anything other than the newest technologies it's like buying Rambler when everyone else has a '08 Vette...get the Adrenaline and all you'll ever need is a cheap code reader...and it's way cheaper HP per/buck
