Well I finally got up the nerve to dump a buck and a half on a set of 9004 Bi-Xenon 4300k HIDs off of eBay for my '01 (non sport). These were the bi-xenon type with a solenoid built into the light bulb that moves the bulb for the high-beam positions.

So I ordered them up, in about 6 days I had them in hand (from China). Not a bad looking box, stuff looks okay, all the plugs match up. Made a mistake on the 1st install (reversed polarity on the ballast) so nothing worked. It was getting dark, so I left everything but the bulbs in place, and put my regular bulbs back in.

Hit email and sent a message, got a reply within an hour telling me to check polarity. Went back out a couple days later, reversed the polarity, reinstalled the bulbs, and viola, they worked. Wow!! Very bright, look good. Tested the high beams. They worked too, until about the 10th click on the switch, then one bulb went out

Went through some troubleshooting (which is a pain in a 2nd gen, anyone that has ever had the headlight bulbs in and out knows what I'm talking about). Switched ballasts and bulbs and confirmed it was the bulb that was bad.

Hit email again. This time, had to pay $25 for a replacement bulb (the s/h to and from China, which was clearly stated in their policies). Oh well, the cost of testing a questionable solution to dim headlights. I wasn't upset.

A few days later, received the correct replacement bulb. Completed the install a 3rd time and they work great.

Now I've had them installed for about 2 weeks now, and I'm loving them more each time I turn them on. Extremely bright, go further, a bit wider. To all those who say HIDs in reflector lenses don't work, I say phooey, yes they do. To anyone else who would like to post to tell me they are illegal and all that jazz, I know, don't waist the bandwidth.

The only issue left is when I turn on my fog lights the bulbs go into high-beam mode. Anyone have any ideas? I could always rewire my fogs to a separate switch, but I'd prefer they work with the factory switch.

Anyway just thought I'd post the whole experience for anyone interested. From a 1-10, I'd give them a 8. The downside was dealing with a warranty replacement and mail from China, but the company clearly stated their policies, and I followed all their procedures and it went well.

Reflector Lense = stock housing?

I've been waiting for your review. Is there any relays needed? You say it moves the bulb to go to high beams? So there wouldnt be away to have high and lows on at the same time?

Reflector Lense=stock housing is correct.

The kit comes with a multistage relay already wired in. Easy hookup. Nothing additional needed (except maybe a few wire ties, they only give you 4).

No, no way to have high and low on at the same time, it is all one bulb. Trust me, you wouldn't want them both on, you would need sunglasses. They are that bright!

Next time I hook up with my chapter I'll get some comparison photos at night with a stock 2nd gen. Don't know when that will be though.

Cool. I can handle plugging stuff in. Could you PM or post the seller so I can investigate further? This really sounds like a good solution if you can figure out the fog/high thing.

4300k, they look very close if not dead on high $$ stock HIDs the soccer mom crowd has. They are very, very white.

Hummm... So I would want to get Diamond white (6000k) then? For that extra bling right? but why is it less Lumens? what is the stock Lumens I wonder... I have the silverstar replacements.. I need to do some googling

It looks like my silverstars have 1200 lumens on bright and a color temp of 4000, so either way its a big upgrade.

The 6000k look too blue to me. I went for the 4300 because they were the brightest at 3100 lumens. I can see a green w/white letter street name sign 1/2 a mile a way now, still can't read it, but I can see it reflecting my headlights!

Now all I need is a 6 speed and I can be just like Haloman!

I havent put my order in yet. Honestly gauges are next on my list more than likely.

The higher you go above 4300K the LESS light you'll put on the road. As you get into higher kelvin you get into blue and then purple, definitely not the ideal set up for seeing at night.

Hey buddy, these things still working? I have gone thru two sets of silverstars in a year and I guess I am going to the open the wallet and get something that will last longer.

Yes sir they are still working. I was riding down the road the other day thinking...gee I ought to go back and put out a 1year later review. So since you asked:

HIDs: Still working great. No issues whatsoever except as originally reported (I got too lazy to setup a separate relay for the fogs so I just don't use them). A few others in the chapter have since installed them too. You just can't beat the light output. And now, they are even cheaper.

LED bulbs in front: Still going strong, never an issue with them.

LED Taillights: Biggest POS I ever bought. Perhaps I got them too early, but I have multiple LEDs out on both sides due to poor solder connections (sometimes they come on). I'm looking at replacing them this year with another set, hopefully quality has improved on these.
