Question problems?????

my 05 with triple dog is running bad it stated about two weeks ago i thought it was tires at first but after rotate and balance it still was the same. At 68-72 the truck shakes like hell I noticed today that if I hold it in 1st it starts the shaking at 2,000 rpm I think it is in every gear at about 2,000 rpm. I usually run the truck in crazy larry and I have tried it on the stock setting shakes the same in all settings. Today I noticed when you floor it the valves clatter really bad in all settings. this is a stock auto tranny by the way. any ideas?

Crazy Larry everyday, Stock tranny.....you guys are awesome . Yep....your u-joints are probably shot to start with and I'd figure your clutches are getting worn out and your steels are nicely blued....how does the tranny fluid look and smell. The TC is probably on the way out and your flexplate probably has a few melted studs which is wearing the input shaft into the front seal and wearing the tranny fluid pump.

Other than that....couldn't get ahold of Scary Larry eh? ks

You know why they do it?

They get on here and ask about some performance parts for their stock truck. They want a little more power and fuel economy.

Next comes replies from the more power than god crowd and recommend TST or BDTD with CL or heck for that matter why not stack them.

All in all he should have maybe done his homework but, go back and read some threads on here and check them out. There is some seriously bad info being given out.

Man sounds like you guys have it all figured out huh.... I know the crazy larry will toast a tranny and have plenty O funds to buy a tranny but the fluid is not burnt or black and when she blows I will get another...the valve clatter in stock setting has alot to do with the tranny huh. the old straight 6 sounds like a 14:1 350 running on 87 octane. I am not a newbie to the diesel world I was just asking a freaken question.

I would start simple. Check u-joints. Then check for possible injector problem- oil level too high? smell like diesel? Are you sure it's valves and not injectors ? Pressure boxes are known to cause an accellerated injector failure, or some have said......just a few things to get started. Fill out your sig. so we can tell what your working on easier.

Maybe not a newbie but you must reread your post form the point of view of some of the vultures that lurk around forums looking for a little fresh meat.

Your post showed two problems and both may be related or may not be but you got the answer for where to start on both of them by vzdude.

Now for a little more, how many miles do you have on the truck?? Since it happens in all gears at 2000 rpm it sounds like a torque converter or flex plate. Try it in neutral to see if you get a similar shake at 2000, it may not be as noticeable as it is not under load but it may still present itself. Also take off the inspection cover on the bottom of the TC and see if there is any indications of broken bolts or a cracked flex plate.

cool and thanks I will do some checking. the beast is just fixing to turn 70000 miles with CL on it for about 40000 of those miles. I did try the 2000 rpm deal with the truck in park and it didnt really do it. I think it is load related. Looks like I will be driving the old turbo charged 1970 chevy truck to work for a while.lol

U-Joint at the rear end!!! $17.99 and no more shaking. I couldnt tell it was bad until I got it off..I pulled the drive shaft tonight and the u joint was frozen. I talked to a mechanic buddy of mine about the valve clatter and he said I need to adjust the valves??? He said the valves need reset after 50000 miles. The clatter happens right when you deck it. I also want to get the tranny done with a new convertor where is a good place around Houston?
