Preparing for County Fair Truck Pull in August

All right. Every year at the county fair, we have a truck pull, and I have decided I am going to enter. So far I have the mods shown in my sig. (I know, not much ) But, in June I am getting a Goerand tranny, also will have timing @ 16.5 within a week.

Basically, I want to put on a show for the crowd, as it is a pretty big event. I also want to add some extra power Eventually I want to end up at around 400 HP, but more importantly, 900 ft. lbs of torque. But that is in the next few years. What do you think just for performing well in the open class pull? So far my thoughts are #10 plate, 3K Gov. Springs, and injectors (either 300's or 330's) and I should be doing all right. What do you folks think? Of course, being 17, funding can be there, but I just can't get it to grow fast enough (maybe I need to plant more )

I have about what your looking at doing, except #5 plate, DTT trans, and I am running 370's(would recommend it). I've never dyno'd but a mechanic drove it around for a while, and said he had driven in some with 400 HP and thought mine was probably about the same. Wouldn't have a clue about the torque, but if it dyno'd at 900+ it wouldn't surprise me. The only thing I notice about most of the pullers out there is it seems they have manuals, I could be wrong but it just seems like they are. I can see how they would prefer that, but you would be fine with your auto.

Any way good luck with the pull!

As long as have a built tranny I don't know why it wouldn't hold up. It wouldn't be much different then the guys using them for drag racing except you come into power easier.
Good luck with the pull

Thanks for the replies, I'm sure I'll have some prepping questions as it gets closer, I am still just kind of getting information right now.
