Pre or Post?
OK.... Getting ready to install my X-Monitor, and have come to the great question of life Pre or Post Turbo? I have searched the threads and there are hundreds of posts regarding the location of the thermocoupler, but I can't find anything that really says which is better and why.
In helping me with my decision it should be noted that I will be using the BD Cool Engine Shutdown that connects to the X-Monitor.

Pre all the way...it has been discussed many times. It is the only loaction that monitors real temps close to the cylinders and what the turbo is seeing. The ONLY purpose of a post turbo pyro is cooldown...which can be safely gauges with other methods.

OK, so the majority is saying Pre, will that be a problem with using the Cool Down? Will it just require the engine to idle longer before shutting down? Will it put me in danger of damage due to long engine idle?

You won't be idleing longer than a minute or so with normal driving.
2-3 minutes if you tried to shut down at the top of (insert scary mountain road name here) on the way up.
