A boost fooler is only necessary if you're using power adders; i.e. chips, boxes, injectors... and most electronic power adders have a built in boost fooler.

All it does is fool the ECM into seeing less boost than the stock programming is limited too which is only an issue when you start adding fuel at levels above stock.

...and the Superchips programmer doesn't have one built in like amny "boxes" that plug in and stay under the hood do such as Edge EZ or VA.

Try disabling the wastegate first. If you can push enough boost to trip a p0234 code then you need a boost fooler, smarty, ez, va,..

get the fooler and hook the wasegate, even at stock fueling you can benefit from the extra boost, while it may not be a 20 psi gain when you bury the throttle on a long pull it will help with the power and temps. with just the superchips and a fooler using the hook you should see 25-27psi at wot

you will be all right if you have an egt guage, low rpm's and heavy pedal/big load-hill might warm up, but if you rev it you'll be fine. I have a friend with 130's and no fooler and he does ok just grab a gear on the hard pulls and watch your foot. that said, a timing box is only gonna help your egt's and mileage.

A boost fooler will only allow you to run at higher boost levels - the more boost, the more mass airflow (although the incremental mass flow becomes less as boost and compressor discharge temperature increase). Unless you are overfueled, more boost will not produce more power.

What a boost fooler does is provide the air necessary to burn additional fuel more efficiently (i.e., with lower EGTs and less smoke). The additional fuel is what produces the additional horsepower.
