Question Possible cause for APPS failure?

After I got my new APPS/bell crank assembly, I took the old sensor off the back side of the assembly, just to see what it looked like. No big deal...just a center pivot that returns to "zero" when you let go of it. But when I was putting the new assembly on, I couldn't help but notice the gap between the backing plate of the assembly, and the housing it mounts to. That gap is open to the sensor below. Do you suppose hitting that thing with the high pressure hose at the car wash could possibly get water into the sensor and cause it to fail? I'll bet so! Whatdayathink?

Not sure.......good question though.

Mine has a black cover that covers the APPS assembly and linkage. As long as it is in place, I don't think much water could get to it.

That's right, but the black plastic cover is on the bell crank side of the plate. It is the other side of the plate that is open...right down to the sensor.
