Possible 47re Problem; Question?
I pulled a real dumb thing yesterday. While entering a freeway with the truck in OD I inadvertantly pulled the shift lever into neutral instead of pressing the OD button. Truck speed was around 50mph; engine speed 1900-2000 rpm. I immediately pulled the shift lever back into drive and pressed the OD button. I couldn't slow down because of the traffic and the road shoulder wasn't very wide. Afterwards, I didn't hear any noises different than usual and I drove on to work, about 26 miles away. Coming home at midnight, everything sounded normal and the tranny shifted fine. Other than the forward clutches possibly over heating, does anyone have any thoughts about the posssible damage I could have done? The forward clutches should have cooled off fairly quick because of the vehicle speed after this happened. I just changed the tranny fluid 3 months ago and adjusted the bands, so I won't be dropping the pan anytime soon to look for damage. Thanks.
