Popping noise when braking

After the good gauge install yesterday, I have noticed a popping noise, when braking, coming from under the driver's side floor board. We had to prime the system to get the truck started, and by doing so, we got diesel all over the front end suspension.

I can see diesel all over some sway bar links, and some other greasable links (not sure of their name).

I jacked up the driver's side and checked for play in the tire as if a ball joint was out. It seemed fine to me. I even tightened my shocks, and after a test drive, no luck.

I have been told by a dealer that some fittings and links don't like oil or diesel. Can this be causing the popping noise? I would try jacking up the whole front end and feel for a popping, but there isn't nearly as much weight on it as it would be on the ground when braking (no pressure on front end, same dealer told me that).

I know having a lift doesn't help. Any ideas guy?

Hunter

P.S. It sounds like a small pop, or quiet clunk.

Control arm bushings.

First thing I thought of.

Particularly the one right under the driver side, frame mount.

Check the torque.

I believe these specs will work.
'02 FSM says 120 ft/lbs for both ends on the upper and 140 ft/lbs for both ends on the lower.

HAHAHA, thanks for the reply phox. The bad thing is that my torque wrench was stolen about 2 weeks ago. Looks like I'm gonna be making a trip to O-Reily's right now to borrow there's.

Well phox, your a good man, no matter what they say in the chat room!!!!! JK

They didn't have any torque wrenches available, but I tightened em down good-n-tight and now I don't hear/feel the noise anymore. I guess when I have time, I'll double check my torque specs. Thanks again.

Hunter

Glad it worked.

Word on the street is Skyjacker arms are notorious for working loose.
The popping (or light clunk) might just be a built in warning system before they get loose enough to cause damage.

Almost worth it to make checking the torque on them as routine as an oil change.

Moving on down to 2nd gen general, now that it isn't an "Emergency" situation.
