poor boys weight rack
what happens when you can't find or afford those nice heavy suitcase weights?
you make this and put 400lbs of concrete lintel pieces in it. 2- 100lbs sections, and 4-50lbs sections. would hold more weight if i had it too! the straps bolt over the top and clamp it down so it cant bounce and there is no way it can fall out.
can't say its the best or very pretty but it will work to help put that extra 400lbs where it needs to be.

i dont see why they wouldnt allow it, its secured to the truck, and with the inside dimensions of the rack, no matter what, the only way any of those blocks are coming out is to go striaght up and out the top. you can not twist, pull, or push them out the front because they will bind up. and also the bars go on the front and top which will prevent them from being able to move at all.

I see your reasoning and I agree but you never know what "fault" they may find in your design. I think it would be cool to use 100lb Olympic plates hanging off the front

Good idea!
I've wondered if the tracks would let you hang a row of old batteries off the front.... I know the rules stipulate no batteries in the driver's compartment or forward of the radiator - but I think they mean working, connected batteries?

How much heavier do you want to be for the class you'll be pulling in?
All I see in the pics is a disposable bumper. Run into all sorts of stuff then just get new blocks

I like it I've been thinking of getting a whole bunch of tire weights and melting them down into ingots. The Tires Plus I work at usually has about 150 lbs or more every month. I figure if I hit up a few big tire shops I could find what I need.

most rules state that they can't be more than 60" past the front axle, other than that I can't imagine why it wouldn't work unless a tech guy see's something unsafe about it---chris

hey GB, this is just a thought, you could get some thin sheet metal and box it in and throw a quick coat of black spray paint on it. might make it look a little more pleasing to the eye.

Yeah if you gave me the dimensions of what size the sheet metal would be I could bend you up and nice looking L shaped front piece out of like 0.050 or 0.063 aluminum.We do that kindof stuff at work, big hydralic brakes. And you could just paint it. And put a sweet looking decal on the front.
