I just put a PML diff cover on the rear of my truck. It was due for a fluid change and I really didn't want the hassle of pulling the cover every 15,000 miles.

At $100 less than a Mag-Hytec the PMLs are very nice. For those worried about Aluminum covers not being very strong....stop worrying.

The PMLs are very stout. I don't think I could break the cover with a baseball bat. I guarantee I could smash the stock steel cover just by stepping on it.

They fit well and look good. I bought the as-cast version and painted it myself.

Once I save for the front cover I'll have one of them also.

have the pml diff covers-front and rear. i could not justify the added cost of the mag-hytec ones.

High temp bbq paint or engine paint is their recommendation. I used the bbq paint.

The guys at PML said the as-cast covers come ready to finish if you wish. No priming or sanding neccesary.

You can either leave them Silver/gray or paint them.

I was going to mask the fins like their factory Black covers come,but I was lazy.

Do they have a place for a temp probe? Is there a place they could be drilled and tapped?

Yes there is a place you can D/T for a temp probe. They will D/T for you,or you can do it yourself.

Looks good SundayMoney! I have a Mag Hytec on the rear and PML on the front and love them both but I just ordered them black and didn't need to paint them. My question (which you reminded me by showing your rusty axle housing) is why not paint it too? Does anybody here take some high temp grill paint and paint the axle tubes/housing? I have been thinking about cleaning mine up and hitting it with some paint.

Tremclad makes a automotive paint that I use on my axles. Just get rid of the larger rust and spray. It can be sprayed over rust so it seems to last longer from my experience. Up in Canada with our winters this is a must to keep you undercarriage looking decent.

Diff cover looks good Sundaymoney. They are a smart addition to make lube changes easier, add some looks and get rid of some extra heat.
I recently did my front and rear with MagHytecs. Couldn't be happier, even my wife thinks they look good under the truck.

I just purchased a pair of Mag-Hytech front and rear,, I thought they looked the coolest out of all the stuff on the market.

Special Blend - How much gear oil did you use??? I read 8 qts rear, 4 qts front. Did you find this to be true?

Do the MH covers fit the front now? When I was researching my covers I had read that alot of guys were having problems with the suspension rubbing on the front MH cover.

I will be putting them on, in a couple of weeks,, have too much on my plate to do it in the next 2 weekends... I will put a message on the board, and let everyone know, how the install went.
