I just got back from plowing a day and a half with my 96 2500 CDT.

We had 7" of snow, then 2 hrs of heavy rain then 4 more inches of wet snow.

I plowed out 24 driveways and a few private roads.

I have to say that snow was like plowing bricks. I put this puppy in 4 wheel low and push that stuff at an idle! meanwhile i'm watching the fellow in the next driveway over with his gas chevy gunning it and slamming the snow back 20 feet with each axle snapping surge. He's looking over at me thinking I've gotta get one of those. She's like a locamotive. never got stuck. It's a great plow truck.

Been plowing with mine for many years now.
Really have to say, it pushes snow a lot better than the trucks I have had in the past.
Gonna look around for another one this year.
Just to have.

I pushed a 10' Blizzard snowplow in 8" of snow with mine in high range 1st gear no problem! I could also out push a Ford F450 with the same blade. in the larger parking lots I could get up to 3rd throwing the snow about 30' from th end of the blade.

Got a 8'6" meyers power angle blade on the truck in my sig,and we also have a 8ft V-Box salter for the bed.We we plowed in pa with the salter on,one of the huge lots at the radio stations(Bala Cynwyd)we plowed in 4H and could get it up to 5th gear.It is a very fun truck to plow with.The one time we were called down to a parking garage because the city offical came out and said that the snow the was covering the turning lane(5 feet out and 3 feet deep)we put there,well the snow was ice and we went down at 12noon(this is when my dad had the truck).Well we had three trucks the CTD was gonna push the snow and the other two were chevys and they were there to block traffic and keep it out of the way.Well threw the truck in 4H and put it in first and angled the plow to the right and started pushing,the tires chirp and it took off two passes and all we had left to clean up was some sidewalk clear up and their was also some nice black clouds drifting into the air.

just put an 8.5 Blizzard on the boss' rig. He complained about higher engine temps, and a higher EGT than normal, cruising on the highway. Told him to play with blade carrying height and maybe angling it. I don't plow, but you guys that do....have you experienced the same thing due to air blockage to the grill??

Blizzard makes an air deflector that bolts to the top of the blade but I just ran with the blade about 1/2 way up. The fan Howls like a banshee with the blade all the way up but it never got over normal operating temp.

My operating temp stays okay when I have the plow on ... maybe a little higher than normal ... but it's pretty interesting when you know that it's about -10 and the overhead says that it's +11 outside!

HERE WE GO AGAIN

Well folks, just got back from 17 1/2 hours of plowing. The wet heavy stuff again.

The best part was when I get a call from a buddy with a F-250 Gasser.

"um, (long pause) i'm kinda in a predicament...you might need to bring the JD with the bucket"

He was plowing an uphill driveway from the road in. well he got about 3/4 of the way up and ran out of traction/power. he left a huge 3 foot high perfect plow shaped block of packed snow right in the middle of the driveway. and the old lady had to get out to work

i went over there, pulled up to the wad of snow, picked the blade up about 4" and walked it right up over the rise.

if the lady didn't have to get out, i think he would have rather shoveled the pile than see me ease into it with the turbo whistling and push a 1500 lb wad of snow over the hill like it was a pile of feathers.

Just another feather in the cap for Cummins/Dodge

It is great to see the look on their faces when that happens,It is even better if you do it in 2wd then they are in just complete aw.The monday after christmas we got 13 inches of snow,we don't have the plow for the truck up here but i plowed off are driveway with the skidsteer and the few neigbors we have were in shock with how i could push a 100ft long path with out dumping the load(it was wet too).My closet neigbor live back about 200ft from the road and he was plowing his drive with a '89 ford f250 2wd with meyers plow,he had tires chains and a old fridge on the back for traction, once he got maybe 4 foot pushed it would stop dead so he would back up and ram it and it would not move,so he had to skim little by little. I was sure he would ask my to get the bulk of it away but he didnt he spent about 10 hours just getting his drive cleared(200ftLx8ftw),I did are's within 1.5 and you can park 13 Dodge Duallies in in mine and still have room around them to get out.

Hey that could be true cause he did have a beer in his hand while he was plowing .The only problem we have now is the drive way & parking area are solid 3 inches sheets of ice,and no one up here sells salt (they dont believe it works better then sand),they only sell gravel,which dont help with the fact that we want to melt the ice.They did say bagged calcium would work to melt the ice,we just walked away laughing.

Same here It sucked having to leave.....and to think of how many people at Elmendorf hate AK. Well SD is not too bad. At least they get some snow and have what they call "winter".
Can't wait to get back to the valley

First few years I had the truck I used it to plow in the spring time. Had an old horse drawn 3 bottom chisel plow I hooked to the back end and plowed my pasture with it. Sorry, Just had to throw that in there.
