piston pump
Just installed a piston pump. Old one was hooped. Fuel pressure reads 15 PSI at idle. Will I have issues with that much pressure? What do your pressure gauges read?

No problems at that pressure at all. The piston pump seems to run anywhere from 15-18psi. I've yet to install a fuel pressure gauge on my pile but I know I need to at some point so that I can see how the pressure holds at WOT and just so that I'll know if the filter has plugged up. Some guys are seeing 17-18psi to the pump with no issues. If you don't know already, you want to be reading pressure AFTER the filter. I'm not sure at what point the front seal of the pump will blow out but I think it just depends on age of the pump and/or front seal. If it's holding, don't worry about it. A way to tell if it's leaking by would be if your dipstick suddenly begins to read high and smells like fuel.
