ok so the meet at shady maple yesterday got me chomping at the bit for more power. so i came home and have my eye on some piston LP's on ebay. will be ordering one today or tomorrow. what i need is a P/N for the spacer that goes between the LP and the block. the one i want to order doesnt have it. also do i ahve to changed the internal spring to lower the pressure the LP puts out so it doesnt blow up my IP seal? or do i have to run a regulator?

Nick, this thread (http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showthread.php?t=93722) has the most recent (as of last October) numbers for all the parts. The updated part numbers are one page 3 i think.
This thread (http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showthread.php?t=176472) explains about the springs. You cant switch the springs for the lower pressure piston pump to the higher one. You can see the difference in the spring if you read though the tread. As far as running the high pressure (stock 2nd pump) you will need to regulate it down. It will blow the front seal out of the VE. Where as the low pressure pump (which i have) does not. I read a steady 10 psi with the pump. I went to my local cummins dealer and got all the parts for about 120 bucks or so.
unless if your current lp is dead you will not see much difference in power. but it is nice to know you have a good supply of fuel going into the VE. One other thing to consider is that if the piston pump dies your truck will not operate like with the stock diagram pump. I have a spare pump in the toolbox of truck in case it decides to quite on the side of the road.
