My guess is that is because they hit the ground head first after being blasted out of the skies by that shotgun..........Oh wait you were talking about the truck [duhhh]
I agree they look goofy in the front.

me either
thats what i said when they changed from the 2nd gen body
which, btw, took years to grow on me
so maybe this will kinda do the same?
and even if it dont look at the bright side....more room for more turbos!
unfortunately between the feds and the factory engineers there prolly wont be a lot of aftermarket avail

the 1 thing that i love the most is they start with a frame and go through and redesign every little inch of the truck inside and out just started completely from scratch and came up with that. they spend millions on designing it and all but yet the either they forgot about the rims or he was just on vacation. there still cheap and ugly. i think its about time they build some alloys on that dually every 1 else does now. they couldnt spend a few bucks and build some nice 1's wich i think can make or break the truck. instead they cheap out and run the 10year old boring sim's.

Na, more like the Charger to me... At least it doesn't look as stupid as the newer Furds with the big ol' double "ugly" IMO stacked head lights!!! GM's have the stacked headlights too, but their not near as bad looking... All in my opionion of course. I'd take a new Dodge HD anyday! Delete all the emissions junk, your good to pull!

Hate the intergraded brake controler, they need to put them on the other side like they do on the Fords. I towed a trailer with a new chevy with the intergraded brake controler on the left side and it was such a pain to look down on that side, dont know if it is because im used to look down on the right side and see my brake controller or what it is. I DONT LIKE IT, Like the looks of the truck tho.

The silver dually looks "Tundraish" to me A Tundra with a goofy snout. I'm going Toyota whenever they get a diesel.

I like 'em. except the two tone paint above the wheel wells-that looks Fordish. But it really looks intimidating, reminds me a bit of the aggressive Charger, or a Ram's head bowing down ready for a fight!

Frankley, I hope the company survives long enough to bring it to market.
I don't like the grill-hood treatment - especially since the grill now is attached and only the hood raises...pretty high reach for a mechanic, does it come with work platforms?
I reality, the reason this pickup (and semi's as well) are getting larger and larger hoods is due to the tremendous increase of underhood heat from all the emissions control equipment they are now required to put on diesel engines. It's a real double edged sword, and weight and heat will continue to increase as tougher regs go into effect. Some of the hood height may be due to pedestrian safety rules, mostly for Europe however anticipated to go worldwide soon.
I think I'll stick to my old '96...

Me? I've been waiting for a tilt front end like the highway tractors have. Let me get at things from the side, easier to fill/recharge whatever containers you need, and a way to easily reach the window for cleaning when you are a shorty like myself...
And I am one of those who doesn't really care too much about HP, but more about torque and economy... To each their own (about the Toyota thread...).

ironbrew: I had a neighbor modify a hood on a Chevy so that it was tilt-forward. It was a sweet set-up. I would like to see the OEM's pick up on this.

I noticed that as well. I'm a huge fan of the interior but I cannot stand the outside of this truck. There is just something about it that really bothers me. I think the current bodystyle is my favorite. I love my 2007.

Bingo...
My 08 with the interior of a 2010 [guitar] Now THAT would be a truck.
I'll keep my 2005. I don't care for the 06+ interior (the '10+ interior is nice though)... and I HATE the exterior of the new trucks. As much as I hate Fords, the newest Fords look WAY nicer. Too bad they don't have a motor though.

That center console looks like it will be a pain in the right leg. Hopefully that isn't standard as it would make the truck undrivable for me. At 6'5" I lean my knee over thereand hate anything in the way.
I'm hoping to drive my 2006 until about 2016. it'll be paid off in 2012 and it'd be really nice to not have a car payment for a few years.

As has been already said, I love the interior of the new Dodge 3500 but my favorite of all time exterior is the 2009. Really like the headlights and the short bed Mega Cab DRW version of the 09. A dealer near me has 14-3500's on his lot and 9 of them are Laramie, drw, mega's. 2 loaded @ just over $60K and 1 white one that I could not have ordered any closer to what I would buy. I might need to jump real quick since my old 2004.5 is paid for and has 30K on the clock. :-/ $17K off sticker, my truck and $12K. What do you think? Where do I sign? Just kidding.:-) I better not, he might take it.lol
If I thought he would, I probably would. I like the 09 body style that much better than the 10. Did I say my truck is paid for? Thought so. Have to keep reminding myself tho. Have not gotten my stimulus money yet. :-)
Note to self; my truck is paid for, my truck is paid for, my truck--------------

...).
Don't think you'll see that happen. Cost alone is quite a hurdle, plus with all the small "soft" components needed to improve the crash-worthyness of the truck, a fiberglass tilt-hood isn't going to get the job done there. Finally, consumer acceptance could be a real issue. Nice idea, though...

The exterior looks like committee designed it. More chrome badges (one as big as the tailgate?), interior gauges are tiny and carlike, front end is sorry and overall the truck looks disproportional to me.
I buy the trucks for durability, so I guess if I'm in the cab working it I don't have to look at it. If it's as strong as my 08' and has the cummins with the superb auto, maybe.
But heck, that's just my opinion.

I don't like the exterior and the interior looks like it has important things in the wrong places (integrated brake controller, cup holder stacked front to back instead of side by side, etc).
Dodge upped the ante in '89 by offering the Cummins 5.9L. Then, in 1994, Dodge really sent Ford and Chevy scrambling with the Gen 2 trucks and all the engineering/style/interior design work they incorporated into those trucks. Then, in '03 they continued to get better with the Gen 3s. The Gen 3.5 '06-'09 trucks were better still.
This Gen 4 truck might be better than what came before it...but it certainly doesn't look like it is. If I had the dough I'd love to have an '08 or '09 6.7L. Short of that, I'd be purchasing another Ford Super Duty.

i think with a mild lift and some 35s-37s it will really set the truck off nice... at least make up for that huge grill
