I'll be the first. Nothing too special, 2005 Pete with a 500hp ISX Cummins. Love the truck, pulls like a mule, and the jake is fantastic on the big hills.
Pic was taken in Revelstoke, BC, after a run over the Kicking Horse Pass.

This old girl has been retired to yard truck duties, after 1,000,000 miles, she still pulls strong. Not a Cummins though, Detroit 60 series. One day I'd love to restore this truck, I've always had a sweet spot for the old cabovers.

While not mine, I keep this on my computer. It's the grand daddy of truck engines for Cummins, The KTA1150, or as some call it KTA19. This one was in an ebay ad, rated for 600hp.

We spec 565hp or 525hp ISX's and 425hp ISM's for all our new iron, it's used in the brutal oilfields. This unit is an example of a tanker T800 extended cab with a 565hp ISX. The tridrive differentials can be completely locked and they will go through almost anything. This one has monster 445/65R22.5 rubber up front. Legal weight of 67,000lb on these tridrive tanker units and 115,000lb with a triaxle pup in tow.

how well do those tridrives turn, i know with everything locked in they really dont turn at all, but with everything open how do they do?
supercharged_hp
05-10-2009, 12:19 PM
The ones with the biggest rubber on the front don't turn well because the steering has little range to it (due to the wide wheels up front), along with the longer wheelbase. The tridrives still let it turn themselves, but they do wear the 1st and 3rd's axles rubber pretty quickly.
With everything locked, you can let go of the steering wheel or turn it and it doesn't make a difference [laugh]

I gave $4,000 for it. Couldn't pass it up. It was too hard on my mega cab and I am still fighting with dodge on tranny issues.

The biggest problem CAT is seeing is trouble with their turbos on their newer twin trucks

That firetruck is a Peirce. we work on alot of firetrucks for the city. And the Peirce dealer is really close, they send us alot of CVIP inspection of new vehicles.
About Cats, I don't know really. I work for a Detroit, Mercedes, MTU, GE Jenbacher, Allison Dealer. Don't work on any Caterpillars. I don't follow caterpillars anymore.

Typical trash trailers.........seems they are always having to be put back on their feet. They even get good drivers. All it takes is for a load to hang on one side up front. Worked for a demo company and we had to go thru that ritual 3-4 times a year.

have you had any problems wit that Volvo engine?? seems like we always have one of them **** things in the shop. What year is your mack they were using volvo engines for a while before they got there stuff to meet emissions
never seen a end dump take the truck with it before usaully the trailer frame gives at the 5th wheel or at least the ones we run have that design. thought grain was like gravel didnt have anything to hang up to when coming out. laid mine over once already it will scare the crap out of ya it happens in a blink of an eye

The volvo is a 2003 , with about 750 000 on the ticker now, no real engine trouble aside from a couple injectors, exhaust manifold leaks, and a cracked oil pan. The fan clutch is not working on it right now. It has the D12 engine at 475hp. I can't say as much good about the electrical system in the truck, LCM ECM BCM yadda yadda yadda codes all the time, does all sorts of strange stuff.
The mack is a 2006, renault engine at 470 hp , 18 speed eaton. This is my truck to drive, although it is due to be replaced quite soon.
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n240/JKM_010/combineandgaswell004.jpg
rich, that was high moisture corn, the grain door on the trailer is closer to the right hand side , the driver didn't drop the air in the truck, yadda yadda , bunch of things came together for that disaster. it is an older trailer too , quite a stuff frame under that one.
yea it dont take much to lay one over. thats why i tell my customers its driver decision on where to dup and if he can. if they have a proble with it i tell him to have them call me and i will back his call
after being right there and watching that truck/trailer go over, I am very particular about where i dump loads when using an end dump.

I got to drive this thing from Squamish BC to Okotoks AB a few weeks ago! Sweet unit! Has a 575 HP Cummins, 18 spd Fuller tranny, wide track rear end... Only complaint I had was that the AC didn't work and it was hot that day... Oh well!

Nope, this one's a little older than that. The other truck we have uses the ford industrial 300-6, but this one has a continental flathead str8 6. Very cool sounding little motor. Few more little issues to iron out and she should be ready to go to work. I just swapped the digger from the original 1969 International 4x4 chassis to the military unit in the picture. Other than the bizzare braking setup on the 818, I think it's gonna be a worthy chassis. The military tends to overbuild things[guitar]
