Well I was coming home today and decided to snap a few cell phone pics, I would hate to try to stop that thing in a hurry... a combine and 4 tires .

I see that alot around here. I hate to be behind them or even next to them, imagine if one of those tires broke loose and was bouncin down the freeway.

What are those trailers rated at? Payload wise.

Nope, they drain all the fluids, so I was told. Now heavy is a section of windmill tower on a trailer with 20, yes 20 (or very, very close. Brain fart is happening), axles. Something like 80 tires.

That is heavy!

Combines don't really weigh that much in the heavy haul world. I have hauled 4 of the windmill genorator that dieselJon is talking about. They weigh 110,000 lbs on about a 15ft frame. I drove heavy haul trucks for 5yrs before I hired out to the railroad. I really miss it.

I saw that very same truck and combine today in Raleigh. I recall thinking that's a trailer full!

You should see a CAT 995 Wheel loader on a low boy. Even with out the wheels/tires and the bucket and lift arms, it took two heavy trucks ( one pushing, 1 pulling) to pull it up to the Fort Knox gold mine. Awesome site to see. Wish I could find the pic the local news had of the opperation. A 995 is HUGE.

On I-80 I see half of a dump bed for those giant dump trucks going to a local mine. Then I see the other half about 2 miles later. It's a wide load for sure.

Wait til they put them together. HP escort and they take up the entire road. It's funny to watch them taking out reflector poles on BOTH sides of the road.

Had a few cat d11s come thru town a month ago, they are big and heavy something like 80 tons. Man they had the jakes on when slowin down, boy the were screamin, sounds awesome in 6 inch stacks. Had ppl following them, they had to fix a few wire in town here haha. Bigget one i saw was an engine on a flat bed. It was a blue one, 20 cylinder inline had to be 6 ft taller than the air dam on the pete pullin it, about 12 14 ft wide 30+ long. 8 tires to an axle, i think 20 axles on the trailer. It was sitting on a pull off on the side of a road, i was goin fishing and i turned around and went back pulled in and looked around at it for a good 20 minutes. The crank shatft looked to be 3ft across. It was amazing.

Combines are not that heavy, just bulky. I hauled combines all last summer on harvest crew , A combine and a grain cart crammed onto a trailer and it was still under weight , but not by much.

If I wasn't hauling combines , i was driving one , and we had one of the first 9070's to NOT hit the market , it was a test machine, on loan from new holland , 3 GPS units , data loggers , and a tagalong engineer to take notes all included

The highway dept is working on the loop 202 here in Mesa AZ. I sometimes see in the morning ADOT hauling what have to be 80' concrete bridge girders down the freeway. The prime mover is hooked to the front while a 16 wheeled dolly is bringing up the rear. I keep trying to get a pic but it is still too dark to get a good shot. I would imagine it would take 4 acres to turn the darned thing around. I bet they gas up before they hit the road...
