I've got a strange problem!
I put a wreath on the front of my truck like every year but this year I ran a small set of lights on it to an inverter plugged into the cig lighter outlet in the cab. ( I get a lot of smiles out of it)
But the other morning I started it and the wreath lit and went out. I checked the fuses all are good, If I plug it into the 12v power outlet everything works fine. I put a meter on the cig lighter and it shows 12v but there isn't enough current to even light the LED on my car phone charger
I figure it's got to be a bad/incomplete connection somewhere between the fuse and dash but I've no intent on tearing apart the dash while it's still cold out.
Anyone else have this happen?

Could be a bad ground.

If you are a smoker and use the lighter for it's intended purpose then the pos + connection inside the lighter socket gets badly corroded. You can clean off the corrosion just be careful not to touch the sides or it will ground out.
