performance options

as you can se on my sig that my truck is a tame plain jane motor on her . Im wanting to liven her up . I was wondering if a set of 60-75 hp injectors would do the trick for me? I do some towing a couple of times a year, nothing really serious; wood, boat and straw mostly. Would the XZT and some injectors be a good route for some solid power or should i save up and just buy a smarty and then get the injectors later on?

Any advice would be appreciated

Matt

The Smarty would be nice and it gives you extras like high idle and 3-cyl idle, and also lets you read codes. A set of Mach 1s or Mach 1.6s would be pretty good too though. The thing with the injectors though, is that in combination with your Quadzilla might be enough to damage your tranny. It looks like you've already had some work done on it, so it might be okay--it all depends on what they did to it beyond the torque converter and valve body.

why do you have a 3k stall converter. factory red line is like 3200 you should have the stall speed lowered mines like 1700ish that could be your problem the converter is never locking i don't know maybe i am seeing it wrong but a 3k stall converter in these trucks sound like a mistake.

You can't go wrong with any of those choices. The Smarty is a great option, not only add power, but have a code reader as well. The XZt+ is a great little box & very well priced. 75hp injectors are also a good choice. If it were me, I'd get a tuner/box first, lots more fun. Injectors can't be turned down.

i asked for the heaviest torque converter that overdrive could find when they were doing my rebuild so it might not be a 3k but i do feel the torque converter lock. Would there be a big difference in power and milage from the xzt to the smarty? i was hopin to have some grins from the xzt and some milage but its not what i was expectin.

Help me out boys

The difference you'd see between the XZT and Smarty is how the fuel comes on. Some of the settings on the Smarty make the throttle a little squirrelly until you get used to it. It wouldn't be a big gain in power though. Injectors will give you that.

so a set of injectors like a set or mach's or rv275's would help me in the power and milage dept rather than buyin a new programmer/chip?

my experience on this...
get a box first, it gives you options and the ability to turn it up or down, most boxes (quad/edge) add fuel and timing, most mileage gains are due to timing (and a light foot) then get a set of injectors, personally I think the 275 are too small and for the price you can do better,
you have to ask your self how far are you going to go hp wise and what do you plan to use the truck for? cause that will decide how big/small an injector or if you now need a bigger turbo, the wrong decision at this point has you removing parts down the road and replacing with bigger/better.

recap.
get the bigger better box first, as this compliments any injector choice you pick down the road, buy it once (I bought an EZ then replaced it with an J/A) box with monitor kills two birds with one stone, allows you tunable levels to control smoke/egt and gives gauges, so that saves money right there.
you can have alot of fun with an extra 120-150hp just from a box and still get good mileage, if you pick an injector first, your stuck with it, and you cant fine tune it UNTIL you get a box
after the fun wears off and the piggy bank is full again you can pick an injector...too big and you will need a turbo upgrade

....and the slope gets slippery
