Question Performance Options?

I HAVE A 2001 24 VALVE DIESEL, 4WD , 5SPD STD. I HAUL AN APPROX 10000LB FIFTHWHEEL. I GEL ABOUT 19-20 MPH SOLO AND ABOUT 10MPG TOWING. SINCE I USE THE TRUCK MAINLY FOR TOWING THE RV, I NEED MORE POWER ON HILLS AND WOULD LIKE TO INCREASE MY MPH IF POSSIBLE WITHOUT ADVERSLY EFFECTING THE LONGEVITY OF THE TRUCK. I CURRENTLY HAVE AN EDGE EZ CHIP THAT I INSTALLED IN 2001 AND A k&n REPLACEMENT AIR FILTER. I DO NOT NEED A HOTROD, JUST MORE TOWING POWER. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS.

I do not know a lot about the 24 valves put i know you can look up the chips Smarty. and F.A.S.S fuel system. I would think an exhaust would help mpg and egts when pulling up a hill.

Either some small sticks like the rv275's or a fueling box such as the blue chip apb or tst would give you an increase in power. A pyro guage is a must when adding power, especially when towing.

And fuel system upgrades are always a good idea for longevity

I'd recommend some mild injectors like the 275s mentioned. For the "cadillac" option, consider the Mach 1 injectors from Don M. They are about 65hp and deliver exceptional mpg and almost no smoke at all. They run a little more than the 275s, though about $150 more-- but well worth it if you can swing it, imo.

For maximum durability, you'd be wise to consider ditching the K&N filter Go back to stock or try a larger paper element we commonly refer to as the BHAF (Napa 2790).

A mild set if injectors will cost about the same as a power chip, but give you lower EGTs and better mpg when towing. I think the Don M Mach 1s are about $600, but I don't remember.

Between your EZ and the mach 1s, you'll have right around 320hp of clean, good mpg grunt. It's a GREAT combo. Injector info here:

Oh, and since you are new here I'll welcome you to DTR! Oh, and please kindly check your Caps Lock key....
