performance mods for 24v 00 truck

whats the best computer to get for the 00 dodge diesel
with the 6 speed?

i have been looking at the hypertech, or the super tuner?

any other recommendations?

also looking for good exhaust? dont really need a stainless as i live in northern cali where rust is not a big issue.

was thinking a good cat back 4" exhaust, and a module should give me a boost on towing power?

Hey you should post your truck in your sig so we can all help you. I am a little confused. If it is a 2000 and its a 6 speed then then it must be an aftermarket transmission and not the HO. If it is an 01 6 speed then you have the HO. A lot of guys including myself use the edge products and they work well. If you have a stock clutch you might want to consider upgrading that and then getting a comp box. You would probably be alright with an edge ez but its your call. Some clutches hold them others dont. If you have an HO then bigger injectors may be an idea. I here the HO respond better to bigger injectors. Here is a link to the edge products.

The 6 speed was an option on '99 and newer models....the H.O. model wasn't present until '01. i run the Edge Comp Box but if I would have known then what I know now, I would have bought injectors....the H.O.'s respond better to injectors then boxes, but then again I like the ability to control smoke and power with a module inside the cab. Personally, I recommend Edge but that's me. Good luck.

Due to diagnostics, I've run my 01 HO with ETC injectors, DD2s and EDM3s without a box, ETC injectors with a Drag Comp. The SOP meter says the Drag Comp with stock ETC injectors makes more difference than larger injectors with only a boost fooler.

I've only owned Edge products, so I'm biased, but I am VERY happy with their comp and drag comp boxes!

The exhaust goes from the turbo back. It replaces the "cat" (it's actually a resonator) and uses 4" pipe.

They had the 6 speed in 00, but it was still an ETC(or non HO) model. It also only had the 12" clutch as opposed to the 13" on HO models.

Anyways, I guess it depends on how much you want.

From what I hear, the Hypertec and Superchips are not anywere near as good as the VanAaken or EDGE EZ.

If you want allout performance, go for the EDGE Comp box.

The Comp is around $600
The EZ is around $450
The VA is around $400

Injectors are also a good upgrade. The Don M EDM injectors are supposed to be the best.

Mach 1s(60 hp) are $500
Mach 1.5s(80 hp) are $700
Mach 2s(100 hp) are $800
Mach 3s(125 hp) are $900

I personally think I want to go for the VA box and Mach 2s.

Gauges are must. Fuel pressure, EGT, and Boost.

A good 4" exhaust system, or 4" straight pipe is needed to lower EGTs.

Also, a air intake system, such as the Scotty II is a good upgrade.

Have fun.

And don't forget to upgrade the clutch to a South Bend.
