so i was walking through our local thiesens and went to their tire section since i am in the market for tires. thats when i saw they have a "widetrack baja AT" tire with the brand name peerless. the tread is similar to a firestone steeltex of transforce AT. so i did a little research online and can't really get direct info on what company own/makes peerless. i did notice that bridgestone was almost always on the website/webstores with the peerless, and this thiesens store sold bridgestones also so i think they might be made by bridgestone/firestone.

anyone use this tire? any ideas good or bad? i can get a set of 4 265/70/17E out the door after tax and everything for $625

what do you guys think?

Our company was founded by Mike Schaffner as Mike's Frontier service in Globeville, Colorado, in
September of 1949. In 1953 a new station was built in Arvada, Colorado.
Mike stayed there until October of 1955 when he moved to a brand new super station in Westminster,
Colorado. This location is still open today.


By 1966 we had grown to a thirty-eight station jobbership, selling thousands of tires.
We had established a distributorship for one of Uniroyal's house brands "Peerless",
and moved away from Dayton where we had been buying tires.
We then set up a tire division called "Direct Sales Tire Co." and used it to supply tires, batteries and
accessories to our stations as well as to commercial accounts. We opened our
warehouse in Arvada to the public for a couple of days a week and were surprised how
many walk in customers we had. No mounting, no service, just cash and carry.


On April 17, 1967, we opened our first tire store in Boulder, Colorado,
and some fifty stores have opened since then. On June 3, 1982, Mr. Schaffner sold
the company and retired. In 1984 we bought the Peerless name and trademark from Uniroyal
and on April 16, 1986, changed our name to "Peerless Tyre Co."


In June of 2007 we opened a new tire store in Wheatridge, Colorado.
(Our 58th location).

I've ran a couple sets of Peerless tires on my K10 and Scout and have had pretty good luck with them. I havent run any of their heavier duty tires though.

I do believe they are made by Bridgestone, or atleast associated with them in some way. They do have a direct link to B-stone from their site, if that means anything.

yea i found that website too, i don't think they make the tires, i'm trying to find out who acually makes the tires. i think that place is just a tire store/distributor, like the freedom/gemini goodyear stores.

My friend has the Mt's and they are crazy looking. Hes had good luck with them. Im just waiting for mine to wear out

yea, their mt look alot like krawlers, i thought about getting them, but i am worried about how much noise they will make!

You cant hear them until you let off the "GO" pedal. They really arent too bad

yea, you would think i wouldn't be to worried about the noise with my truck not even having a muffler, but i just remember with my tacoma i was always fighting noise, balancing, and rotation issues. so i am trying to keep this truck as simple and trouble free as possible since i have the 4runner crawler for the off-road stuff now. but i love the looks of mt tires, and i know some of the camp sites for off-road events are pretty muddy/rocky terrain.

so i don't know, im trying to grow up and be reasonable here!

I ran a couple of sets of those on my dually years ago. My opinion is that they don,t wear well. Not alot of miles. Good price though. I guess you'll have to weigh the price against mileage.
