PCM vs ECM?

I was reading a lil' piece in Flashpaq.com (not much action). They were talking about key counts and how Smarty is the only one that keeps the key counts. One of the moderators says they don't like to touch the PCM. What is the PCM and is it only touched for key counts?

Thanx.

Key counts is one parameter that is recorded. The PCM (power control module) and ECM are integrated on the newer generation trucks. It is called a Module, electronic control.
