I had some rust over the rear passenger wheel well to deal with but I didn't want to worry about the paint not matching if I replaced the rear fender, so I had my friend (good body shop guy) bead blast off the rust and take it down to bare metal in the area. Put on some kind of epoxy convertor/sealer that seals everything up. Then I ordered some power wagon flares and had them painted silver (along with the door guards), after installing them I couldn't get past the "gap" of red on the front bumper so I got some silver vinyl to cover the area and give it the "finished look" I wanted... Since I was at it, I figured it was time to black out the "B" pillars with some textured vinyl to give the truck a "lower roof line" look... I am sure it would look alittle more complete with the front windows tinted, but I'm really not a fan of looking through tinted windows at night...

Well what do you think... is the change for the better or worse??

I know it's not for everyone, but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out... A little different then a factory truck, but not over the top...

Here's the before pillars where blacked out... kind of on the fence about that part, but up close it makes the truck look newer and it's a great place to grab the door without scratching the paint...

Thanks guys; like I said it might not be for everyone, but I like the outcome...

Apearently the rust (in that area) is getting to be a pretty common problem with these truck in my neck of the woods. The buddy that fixed it said that dodge put some sound deading foam/sponge up there and that was holding moisture and caused the problem. He removed it from both fenders and cleaned and sealed everything with that sealer. I told him I don't plan on selling the truck for another 20 years, so do it right... He told me that what he did should last as long as the rest of the truck...

thanks guys, the flares are just factory power wagon flares, bought them from a mopar dealer on ebay. The black vinyl should be pretty tough, its actually rocker panel guard, I just stumbled across it when wondering through Cabelas on afternoon...

I had looked at and considered buying that film from Cabelas in the past, but wasn't sure how well it would work.

Was it easy to work with, and does it look like it would hold up against damage if used on the rocker panels?

It was very easy to work with and it's pretty thick... I cant say how good it would hold up to rocks, but it's got some heft to it for a decal. My biggest concern is if it will dull or gray up after a little while, but only time will tell..

I think it looks good on all accounts. I have been debating on buying the powerwagon flares, but I would have to either paint them red or get black door moldings. My long term thought is black flares and black linex from the body line down.
