paint blistering

any one else having problems with the paint blistering? Last september I had the passenger side rear bed panel replaced under warranty because of blistering paint above the wheel well, and today I noticed its happening on the drivers side in the same area and now I'm out of warranty. wondering if anyone else is having the same issue?

Never heard of it, sorry to hear about it though. Maybe you got a bad paint/primer job at the factory.

Is it a paint problem...or a RUST problem? You said you had the bedside replaced , I`m guessing you meant you had it re-painted.

It`s possible there was some paint work done to the truck before you bought it (yes , even if you bought it new) . I`ve not heard of a major paint problem for anyone since the early to mid 90s.

Mine still looks great , and it`s outside in the FL sun 24/7.

Looks like it may still be under warranty. Take it in.

From the 2004 warranty book.

http://www.dodge.com/crossbrand/warr...04DR100103.pdf

2.4 Corrosion Warranty

A. Who Is Covered?
You are covered if you are a purchaser for use of the vehicle.

B. What's Covered
This warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair or replace any sheet metal panels that get holes from rust or other corrosion. If a hole occurs because of something other than corrosion, this warranty does not apply. Cosmetic or surface corrosion — resulting, for example, from stone chips or scratches in the paint — is not covered. For more details on what isn’t covered by this warranty, see 3.6.

C. How Long It Lasts
This warranty starts when your Basic Limited Warranty begins under 2.1(E).
This warranty has two time-and-mileage limits:
• For sheet metal panels, the limit is 36 months, with no mileage limit.
• For an outer-body sheet metal panel — one that is finish-painted and that someone can see when walking around the truck — the limits are 5 years or 100,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first.

I have to admit I have seen a few 2003-2005 Dodge Rams with rot above the wheel wells.

My '03 that I just traded had the clearcoat "bubbling" up on all panels, was told by autobody specialists that it was solvent pop like when you spray the clear before giving the base proper time to cure. Thing was it was the original paint from new so seemed to me it was just defective clearcoat.

GOOD NEWS, dealer called today and said as a goodwill gesture they will replace the rear panel if I pay $50 deductible and factory will take care of the rest, becuase I had same issue on other side. This is awesome saves me about $2100 parts and labor.

Great news. Always good to hear some good news for a change. I ordered a new 03 Laramie that got caught up in a big paint recall and Chrysler had litterly 100's if not 1000's setting all over waiting to be tested for peeling paint. Took 6 long weeks of waiting for mine to be tested and it failed. They sprayed parts of it with a pressure washer and the paint peeled off like there was no primer all the way down to the metal. Made me sick. As I understand it, all trucks that failed were crushed. I tried to purchase it at a discount but Chrysler said no.
