P0261

I was driving along and it cut out and the guage went down to 10 psi. After I got home I replaced the fuel filter and it is now back to 16 psi. Code was P0261 on the superchip which is installed on the tow mode. Does anybody know what this code is? Thanks!

There's a ton of posts with the so called death code of po216. I've had the code for a while since I replaced my Lp. My truck runs like a champ to this day with the code. I would start saving for a Vp but I wouldn't get one right away. Run bio if you can get it. It works better in the Vp than ULSD in my opinion...

Exclamation

Hang on a sec. It may be the Superchips tuning that did it. I had the exact same thing happen (same symptoms, same code), when towing in hot/warm weather with the Superchips "tow safe" program installed. I returned to stock - no problem. Then I added an Edge EZ - still no problem. That was about a year ago, still on the same VP44 injection pump.

Before you go rushing in to getting a new pump, ditch the SC, and go stock for a while. If it still does it, you need a new IP. If it doesn't, get an EZ.

Thanks, I did take the SC out and I am running stock now. It has a little miss when starting cold but everything else seems fine. Sorry I didn't say thanks sooner other things came up.

Symptoms of a dying vp44 include dead pedal, mileage going south, and hard warm startups.
